It should be remembered that Dagenham are a merger of four clubs, the other three being Walthamstow Avenue, Leytonstone, and Ilford. And the latter pair of those had themselves merged.

Kidderminster in hot form - can see it being a Chester v Kiddy final. We can resume our annual dire trip to Aggborough with a great consolation pie...

Forget the pie - the caterers have gone now. I'll settle for a jaunt on the Severn Valley Railway.

I think an established conference level keeper is a must for next season

As important as getting Linney

If not more so.

Coach broken down on the M40.
Was it sabotage? 🤔😂😂

Kick off delayed until an hour or so after we get there.

I assume the broken down coach isnt6Phil Parkinson.....

Not much to be said about that, utterly embarrassing & a black day for the club.

A lot of players are nowhere near good enough & clearly defensively PP & NS really have to think hard about their approach in the summer. 93 goals conceded in all competitions, Aldershot sling enough crosses in on Saturday night & we’ll have a good chance of ‘achieving’ 100.

Shameful.

Spot on.

A mortifyingly abject performance, as our wretched finale to the season concludes with six home games without recording a solitary win.

I've not been so relieved to see a season limp away into the distance since those infamous days of 2016/17.

Congratulations to Congleton Town. I certainly didn't begrudge them their victory and, in truth, I would have been rather embarrassed if we had somehow contrived to have won that match on penalties.

I don't want to see Gould, Bennett and Burgess ever again and it's manifestly time for Pringle to move on.

After a week during which Parkinson haughtily lectured Alty supporters about taking the Cheshire Senior Cup seriously, it's a pity that he didn't express those same views to his players prior to kick-off.

I can only hope that he possesses the humility to apologise for that debacle.

Don't hold your breath.....

We shouldn't have more than 6 loanees on the books at any given time since we can only utilise 5 in any game.

I didn't go last night, so can't comment on what seems to have been a poor showing.

Now that I'm old and slow, there are some grounds I will never visit again for various reasons. The Moss Rose is at the head of the list.

Altrincham FC First Team / Matty Kosylo
« on: April 25, 2023, 09:35:03 AM »
There has been a tendency from some posters in other threads to almost make it look as if Matty will be a major driving force for us next season.

I hope all of that optimism is borne out, but we should remember that Matty will be 31 in August, and has missed practically a full season with a very serious injury. It's vital for both him and the club that he has a good pre-season and is managed properly by our coaching staff.

A fully fit Matty would obviously be a major bonus for us, but we shouldn't expect him to just step straight in and become a miracle worker.

Att. 1500 - 3-1 Altrincham. The bears to score first, or equaliser before a professional 2nd half sees us ease home.

Gould
Perritt Jones Ferguson Jones

Lundstrum Marriot Osborne

Bennet Hulme

Linney

That’s about right but maybe Goodson his earned a start over Bennett? Pringle has started every round too, so may retain his place.

Hadnt considered Goodwin being available tbh. But yes, he could start. Perhaps even Bennet Linney Goodson Hulme, and dropping Osborne to the bench.

Bennet needs as many minures if we sign him, which I suspect we will.

I hadn't considered Goodwin either. 😉

Osborne had the best game I've seen from him in a very long time. Playing for a contract perhaps.

I would want bring in :

1.An experienced goalkeeper who has played at a higher level. His age doesn't matter, but he has to command his box and organize his defenders properly.

2. A similarly experienced number 10.

3. An quick winger with goals in his locker.

I believe that the right goalkeeper will solve a lot of our defensive frailties.

Both Accrington Stanley and Stoke City are often wrongly credited as being among the 12 founder members of the Football League. The clubs then were simply Accrington and Stoke, both went under in fairly quick time.

Just noticed one of our old adversaries, Stalybridge Celtic, have been relegated to step four from the NPL premier. Don't know how I feel about that (or if I care actually) but a bit sad I think. More sad that Nantwich may be joining them. Even sadder that M*cc are replacing them.

If Nantwich are to survive after drawing 2-2 at Marske this evening, they have to beat Radcliffe at home on Saturday AND have Atherton Collieries lose at Stalybridge. I'm afraid it doesn't look good for the Dabbers.

Thought Osborne looked back to his best Tuesday night, expect to see him in from the start against torquay

Can you define what constitutes Osborne's best please ? You've baffled me.

Gould; Welch-Hayes, Perritt, Baines, E.Jones; Lundstram, Marriott; Bennett; Hulme, Linney, Burgess. Subs : J.Jones (if available), Osborne, Pringle, Kaja, and a youngster (or two if James is still out)

Good players will progress up the ladder. They only stop once they either reach their level or reach the top.  For years we were the top for part time so a stable team from year to year was possible. Now we are the bottom of the full time ladder so most players we keep for years will be those not capable of moving up (of course the will be a couple of exceptions but not a team full and not for years - see colclough, Toby etc)  loans is part of the strategy and will be for some time. We need to get used to it. Although hopefully not quite as many as this year if we get the permanent recruitment right

The final seven words of your totally accurate post are key. We need to have already identified targets for next season, and they need to be totally realistic and affordable.

Trialists have proved to be an unreliable source of signings in the past.
