inspired by the other topic on best XI.
who gets your vote for player of the naughties???
-
There could only ever be one winner of that title!
-
Have Coburn's saves benefited us more than Little's goals, or vice versa?
-
Colin has equalled Jackie Swindells' record of being leading scorer for five consecutive seasons - remarkable!

He's not exactly had much competition though, Mister Guru, has he...?!
It's Coburn for me.
-
Got to be Col, as much for his loyalty and commitment as his on-pitch performances. 21 goals in a (theoretically) relegated side in the BSP. That's just phenomenal.
-
Although Colin and Stuart are legends, if it wasn't for Craney we wouldn't be where we are now, both on and off the field.

If we were deciding on the basis of loyalty and commitment then it would be Mad Dog by a mile.
Stuart has kept us in so many games even, on occasion earning us a single point from a no score draw that my personal view is that he has been player of the decade.
Please note that this is not in any way intended to denigrate the value of quality of any other candidate

Stuart Coburn's return in 2004 was where our recovery began in earnest.
-
I could make a case for many on the list but for me its Stuart Coburn.
Loved Mad Dog for his commitment, and Colin is a legend (think the legend police will agree with that), Rod for his work on and off the pitch, Eddie and Val for being Eddie and Val.
However for me Stuart is like a fan playing for Alty who happened to be a bloody good keeper.
-
Rumour has it Stuart Coburn is a big Manchester United fan.
But the dedication he has shown Altrincham FC over the years is second to none. I'm waiting for him to shout "Get In" after the Alty hordes going "whooooooooooo" at Wembley ;)
-
I think without Eddie Hussin we wouldnt be where we are now.
However, it has to be Stuart for me.

Without Stuart Coburn, we wouldn't have been where we were when Eddie Hussin joined Alty.
This is beginning to get complicated....!
-
Stuart Coburn for me easily
-
Stu. I think he has saved more matches than Colin has won.
-
Stu by a mile. Sorry Col.

Fair point but Col's goals stick in the mind more than Stu's saves. That's just how football is.

Since Valentine's Day is a Sunday, we won't be playing anybody. They're at Moss Lane on Tuesday 16th, and we're in sunny Sussex 4 days later.
Now - to get back to the thread........
