Anyone know why he refused the captains armband?

Hoping he was just in a sulk because he played at right-back.

Thought he had a good game last night, like most of the team.
If Young comes back at Wimbledon someone will miss out. I do`nt think it will be Carl Piergianni because he is our best left back so that leaves Williams, Joseph and Smith fighting for two places. I am of course assuming that we play four across the back.
So who drops out or how do we work around it?

Was the captain's armband even offered to him though?

I may be wrong but wasn't he deposed as captain after his recent histrionics at Wrexham?

Maybe he was acting as pigeon carrier for joseph and the intention was never to have Smith as captain?  Just a thought!!!

James smith is the first name on the teamsheet, let alone the defensive line.

Agreed Longman, Smith if fit and available will always be in the starting eleven, best defender we've had here for years, pray to god he doesnt get a ban.

When will we know if there's been a ban?

Indeed, if this is just speculation its prob not helpful given the accusations flying around last week. Chances are he was just passing it over.

He had until the 22nd to respond so presumably we'll know soon.

People need to stop slating Smith on here, he's arguably our best player and I back him 100%.

Have I missed something? Has Smith been charged by the FA? I thought he'd served his 2 game ban for being sent off and that was the end of it?

Yes you have - the FA website states that he was charged under Rule E3 - improper conduct which included a reference to race +/or colour. He had until last Tuesday (22nd) to respond. Presumably the FA will now decide if there is a case to answer & if so what sanctions to impose. See details of website link on another thread.

McKenna says, 'James has submitted a written report to the FA. We've just got to await the reply now. He was available to play on Tuesday night as he had served his two-match ban'".
