Altrincham FC First Team / Re: You're Not Welcome...
« on: December 31, 2006, 04:08:41 PM »
We i.e the Stewarding staff have attempted on any number of occasions to deal with the issue of swearing only to be told, in really quite florid terms that the perpetrators  will be more inclined toward moderating their language when the players and bench stop swearing.

Any suggestions?

Yes.
Mind your own f**king business, Phil....!

I take it that a "big coat" excludes that lime green monstrosity that you were wearing at Moss Lane yesterday...?!

Ecky,

You owe me 10% commission for getting you a closing bid of £77.20!

(I was bidding - unsuccessfully - on behalf of Terry Surridge).

Hope the eventual winner is a true Alty fan!

Some posters on here have been wondering how this season's results compare to our league position at this stage last season, so here's an extract from my article in last Saturday's programme comparing this season to last season after 22 league games:

At present, we have played 22 league games, winning five; drawing seven and losing ten, thereby accumulating 22 points.

After 22 league matches last season, we had both exactly the same record and total of points.

An improvement this season is that we are scoring more goals (24 to date as opposed to only 15 at this point last season).

Meanwhile, the goals against total currently stands at 35, which is exactly the same as at this stage last year. That latter statistic may well come as a surprise to those of us who had perceived our defence to be a stronger unit this season!

At this juncture last season, we had managed to record an away win and had picked up a total of seven points on our travels from twelve games.

Alas, this season, that coveted away victory continues to elude us and we have only collected five points out of a possible 33 so far.

In terms of corresponding league positions, last season we were 17th out of 22 teams and at present we lie in 21st place out of a total of 24 teams.

As always with statistics, read into all that what you will!

Why did Peter Reid stop coming to Moss Lane?

If we had set about the job properly at Moss Lane last Saturday, there would have been no need for all this nonsense.

Altrincham FC First Team / New Competition At Moss Lane?
« on: December 17, 2006, 05:55:36 PM »
Instead of the old 'Golden Goal' competition, could we not now introduce a new game at Moss Lane called 'The Golden Bowler'?

Once Justin Bowler comes on as a substitute, spectators could then pay to nominate how many minutes he is on the pitch before another Alty player actually passes the ball to him and also guess whereabouts on the Golf Road Stand roof his first cross will land.

Silkyman,

Thanks for the link....but once again the dismal standard of education in Macclesfield has been demonstrated!

The word you should have used is: ineligible.

Illegible is defined as "unable to be read or deciphered"!

Oh, and Alan Zelem was rubbish!

Altrincham FC First Team / Memo to John Laidlar re. Dean Greygoose
« on: December 15, 2006, 12:44:33 AM »
The goalkeeper at Bury Town appears to be SEAN Greygoose:

Could he be a relation, perhaps.

As far as I am aware, Dean Greygoose is currently at Soham Town Rangers.
I only know this because I have been researching DG for a forthcoming article in the Robins Review!
