Horrible fixture at home let alone away.
Can see us playing cb's
Good luck to all who travel
Gateshead 2-1 Alty (Amaluzor)
-
Awful venue, so far from the action.
Need to get at them, I would go toe to toe. probably won't and will play with wing backs.
-
The games they lost this year was against teams that attacked them. Let’s stick to our best 11 and take the game to them (2-3 Alty). We are on a roll, let’s continue to believe.
-
Desmond.
-
I suspect we'll see something along the lines of how we finished on Tuesday night, a 3-5-2 without a recognised striker:
Ross
Cooper J.Jones(c) Baines
Donawa E.Jones
Marriott Osborne
Conn-Clarke
Amaluzor Newby
-
If we have a go at them from the off then we have a chance. Hope we get somebody to stay on Dinanga. . Don’t want to see his smug face if he scores.
3-2
2-3
Or 3-3
Any 1 of those 3
Att. 1309..
-
This is not a game to go backwards.
Let them worry about us.
Same 11 as Tuesday, maybe start Donawa at the back for his pace.
If, we go three at the back, at least have CCC, Amaluzor and Newby as an attacking 3 with Jones and Donawa as wingbacks.
I personally think we stick and be confident. We are good enough.

Correct
-
Will be back in the country around quarter to four so could be in for a poor second half! 😉
Let's hope we can build up a good lead in the first! 😎😂😂😂
-
I'll be at a wedding, so I sincerely hope that I turn on my phone at the reception to find we've picked up at least a point.
-
Cmon Alty, Let’s get after them.

Almost!
Great prediction.
-
Superb result. Well done Lads. We even saw Mr Dinanga leave early..
Onwards and Upwards folks 4th now…
-
Outstanding performance and result.
-
With two very winnable looking home games coming up after the FA Cup, we could be in one hell of a strong position by the end of the month.
The form will turn, that's for sure - but let's certainly enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Back in Saughall Towers now.
Bullishness definitely rising but you're correct Marple 👍
I, for one, am definitely enjoying it! 😉
Come on you Supers! 🏆 🥇 🇦🇹🍷

is the play-offs and third round of the FA cup too much to wish for?
-
That was such a good performance.
Amaluzor second half was unplayable at times.
Need to sign Ross and Newby, both very good.
We picked up all the second balls and outstanding press for the entire 90.
Keep going boys.
Wouldn't be risking any of the starting 11 on Tuesday.

Definitely not

I wish for that every year.

I feel another “Perfect away performance” speech from Parky’s interview. “2 goals, clean sheet, job done! Let’s go home!”
Superb performance, shame about the away end facilities. We were lucky to have a toilet.

I can't think of anything better

A lot of people on here feel we should never divert from our usual 4-2-3-1 formation but we won that today with the three centre backs. So is it time to admit that formation can be a good option for us?
-
Tough train trip meant I got to the ground about ten to three. I headed for the gates we have used in recent visits to find them shut. A bloke inside the fencing told me the away gate was further down the road. It wasn't.
Made my way back to the main entrance, no signs nothing. I asked a steward who told me the correct way round. There was a sign there to be fair.
I couldn't see anything about turnstiles and stands for away fans in tickets etc. Did I miss something?
Made it just in time for ko.
The wind spoilt the game in the first half, nothing to note bar the ref going off and then hitting the bar. Second half though, we were a very different gravy indeed. They had no threat up front, we snuffled everything out and took two of our four good chances.
Well.done to the 100 or so Alt y who travelled to the leagues most depressing ground.

Only if we have three attacking players and not three CMs.
Two of attacking players being quick, to get us up the pitch.
Both Newby and Amaluzor were excellent yesterday.
Still think for 98% of the games we play 4-2-3-1.

Agreed, I think it's about having the correct personnel to pull it off effectively - not least in the defence of course.
I'm glad Parky has finally seen sense regarding playing James Jones in the middle - thus playing to his strength in the air, and not to his weakness being taken on - which of course he's so much more exposed to when being deployed on the right hand side.
Jake Cooper's re-emergence has also obviously helped in this sense, in that I think we have a very obvious three when we need to use it.
And then of course you have the balance between the front three; having two strikers playing on the shoulder of the last man like we did with Linney and Hugill absolutely didn't work, whereas having wiling runners like Amaluzor and Newby starting deeper and running at them does.
-
Great win yesterday , seven unbeaten now , you can see the confidence building within the squad .
-
Highlights up on Gateshead tv on you tube.
Can't copy 'n paste the link, dunno why.
-
Seems like the geordie commentators felt they were pretty hard done by. Not to worry eh?

Very select highlights. Though their summary at the end was a fair reflection.

My link went off before that.

You do know J.Jones was playing on the right this game. Cooper was in the middle and Baines out on the left.
-
If there'd been a strong referee in charge, both sides could have ended up a man or two short. I hope Banks isn't going to get in the habit of blatant shirt pulling.

Haha I could have sworn it was the other way round. Consider myself corrected. And in that case that still makes me anxious.
What I hope the management doesn't do is use this is our 'York (A)' from last season and use it as grounds for persisting with the formation - especially when at home against so-called lesser opposition. It should be used sparingly for games like Saturday, as previously suggested by others.

Let's face it, the first grapple in the box was a pen - and you're absolutely right, he won't get away with it next time.

Is something going on with Parky? A moody interview last week and no interview this week after the result of the season. Feel like something could be happening in the background? A few clubs looking for managers (I really hope not). I’m sure he’s not going anywhere but something doesn’t seem right?

The interview exists they played part of it on Pastries, very positive. Why not been released is a mystery to me.

It has now.
