Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Alty Poster - spread the word!
« on: December 14, 2007, 05:04:56 PM »
Absolutely great - better than anything you will see from the media boys at League 1 and 2 level. As always the professionalism of the club shines through.
Starjammer deserves the praise

Altrincham FC First Team / Millwall supporters
« on: November 11, 2007, 01:04:41 AM »
Considering all the negative reports I thought the behaviour of the Millwall fans should be mentioned..........no problems with the 300 ish that turned up today. Stood out in the wind and light drizzle and supported their team (although a little quiet.......but I can see why !).

Also; they stayed in position behind their goal and to their great credit in my opinion, totally ignored the 20 or so 'imposter' Altrincham supporters who from kick-off moved over into the corner to sing derogatory anti-Millwall songs.

These d**kheads did not even know a single Alty players' surname until 20 mins into the match (they were City fans). The Millwall supporters could have moved into the corner and given our stewards a hard time, but they could see these idiots were not genuine AFC and chose to blank them.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Sources Report brisk ticket sales....

Hodgey,
I often work in the Liverpool area (mainly Prescot & Fazackerley, but sometimes Bootle) and a few years ago was offered the 'full corporate' ie. stadium tour, prematch meals and drinks, warm box, more beer etc etc for a Champions League game against one of the top Italian or Spanish clubs (cannot remember).

I turned it down and told them I was watching Alty play Barrow that evening..............how they laughed next day when I told them the game was called off at teatime due to very heavy rainfall and a number of serious accidents on the M6 !

As Ecky says, it's never the same !

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Police pop into pubs in hale
« on: November 03, 2007, 12:16:41 PM »
My sources at Interpol have confirmed this story !
I know that letters have been sent to Altrincham landlords recommending that they review their existing arrangements and consider the need for additional measures.
Landlords are not being asked to close, but they are being advised not to open early. They are however being advised to close if they are unable to 'control the door'.

My interpretation of this is, that police are basically saying, be selective who you let in, because we won't be around to deal with it.
In essence, put a doorman on..........no different to any pub near a league ground on a matchday.

Supporters of Millwall who have come for a football game should have no problems.

Altrincham FC First Team / Robins success on Saturday
« on: October 29, 2007, 09:03:42 PM »
The (other) Robins, that is Southern League Midland Division team, Evesham drew at Home to Halifax on Saturday.
Truly a success when you consider that they are the equivalent of a Unibond One team eg 3 divisions below their BSP opponents.

What's this got to do with us.................well nothing really, but makes a change from talking about Millwall supporters.

But it also puts our FA Cup performance into perspective, in that another BSP team struggled to get a result against lower league opposition (except of course that Halifax did not win either). The cup does this.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Alty vs Millwall
« on: October 27, 2007, 09:09:50 PM »
I think we need to stop all this talk of trouble and violence and let the people at both our clubs sort out the most appropriate safety arrangements.

The last thing we want is to put off the floating supporter or to deny entry to the genuine decent supporters of Millwall. At the same time we don't want any of the 'Burberry idiots' from our local clubs (inc a so called rebel club) from gatecrashing our game.
I am sure that between the club secretary's, Darren's team and the local plod, that the day can be made a success.

Billy Whizz.............season tickets only admit you to the league games. It's the same at every club, you have to pay to go to cup games because the gate receipts are split with the away side

Altrincham FC First Team / Attendance at Kendal

Hope it was 700.............the more the better for both our clubs.

I cannot get the Unibond website to open at the moment !

« on: October 27, 2007, 08:15:39 PM »
Thanks UKVegan, think that was a reasonable point of view, albeit we had a very good appeal for a pen turned down early in the game.

Enjoyed the visit to the ground, your excellent bar and the Kendal fans hospitality.........shame about the quality of the referee and the game itself though !
Nothing wrong with Colin Little's goal either, but we weathered the storm and I think you were unlucky not to get a replay.

Those of us who were kids during the miners strikes of the early 70s can.
My tip is to go at home before the game. Just joking.

Suppose we must call it progress............if those new floodlights only 'spilled' light like the old ones did, then we would all be able to see in the toilets.

Did notice today that the turnstiles behind the burger van have been demolished and a new wall is being built.

Altrincham FC First Team / Kendal Town - An Internet Wilderness?
« on: October 17, 2007, 12:32:40 PM »
Yes, Leeds or Forest away in the 1st or 2nd round, but the third round has to be :-

Manchester United (all respect to Altrincham) X1 : 3
Altrincham : 1 (Chris Senior dumps Ronaldo on his arse before going round Ferdinand)

MoM : Shotton / Tinson

Attd : 78,000 (9000 from AFC, where did they all come from?)

Seriously though...........this is why the FA Cup is still magical............but let's not get carried away, Kendal is a potential banana skin, we must approach this correctly (sure GH/DS and the boys will)

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: More kerfuffle at Vics!
« on: October 11, 2007, 03:33:15 PM »
There seems to be a lot of well intended comments on here towards the Vics and there is maybe nothing wrong with that, but let's try and keep this to sensible proportions.

By all means let's make welcome any Vics supporter who may still need their footy fix and could not stomach the short trip to Witton, but letting season ticket holders in for free ? What next, buy their beer before the game and a free programme.

Maybe a discount would be appropriate to Vics ST holders something like the England suggestion (think this has been said earlier). Even if Vics fans came and stood with the away supporters, then they would be made welcome in the bar etc because they would be increasing attendances and revenue (soemthing our club needs as well).

Remember also that if Boxing Day is off, then our season ticket holders have also lost a game this season that they have theoretically paid for
