Title: Brilliant tonight
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on January 09, 2012, 09:59:17 PM
Albeit against poor opposition, we were excellent tonight.Solid, direct, dangerous from all over the park, Hawes redeemed himself after 2 horror shows.Clee was excellent at left back after an enforced change.Walmsley was outstanding, we've got someone who can take a set piece!!! Upfront was the usual story. Lynch played well as did tomsett. To be honest there wasn't a bad performance amongst us.Lets turn the corner and for f**k sake put 4 or 5 wins on the spin and get this season back on track. We did everything tonight we should have done on Saturday, well done lads

Great result and glad to hear that they played well for it.

Worrying to hear that Broomes got injured in first game. Glad that Clee played well at full-back but it does show how thin the squad is in terms of defenders.

It'll be hard to start putting together the solid performances we need in defence if the back four is constantly changing.Hopefully Broomes will be fit for Saturday.

Seems to be some suggestion that Broomes' injury was hamstring - if true he must be a serious doubt for weekend. At 34 I suppose he will be susceptible to this sort of problem ...

Exactly.

Just hope that this doesn't turn out to be yet another false dawn.

Maximum points are required from our next three fixtures against Workington; Harrogate and Blyth respectively in order to repair some of the damage from the Droylsden and Colwyn Bay defeats.

It did look like it and he signalled straight away that he had to come off

A superb team performance.  Yes they were poor but we never allowed them a minute and they came into the game on the back of a 5-2 and 4-0 win.

We totally controlled the game and every player did their bit.

Can't believe we didn't get more.

Special mention to Kieran Walmsley for taking two of the best and most dangerous freekicks I have seen for us in 10 years.  Completely undefendable and caused real problems.

An excellent night.

Special mention for that quality chant Hinckley had....

Anybody still got it in their head?  :D

It's hard singling people out as you don't want to miss anyone out, but I must say that lawries finish for his goal was excellent and also that Simon richman played really well, never stopped running or closing down when needed all night. Mark Lees showed some real emotion at full time, he was delighted with the result.

Its now obvious that for the second half of the season we're employing mirror image tactics
(Rubbish at home and Brilliant away)  ;)

I'm beginning to suffer from Veloxrotaphobia.                                                          (aversion to rollercoasters)
