Resulting from this, his inept decision was to award a drop ball when clearly we had possession prior to the stoppage which Alty could have fairly expected the Stevenage side to return the ball to ourselves. This point was made quite clearly by Lawton but the ref waved away his protest.
While I understand your point about the drop ball, particularly given that so many are now uncontested the Law does not allow for an uncontested drop ball.
The 'uncontested' ones that are seen so frequently do tend to result in the ball being returned by one side to the other but again there is nothing to say that this is compulsory, in fact the fact that both teams chose to contest it makes it unlikely to say the least.
I fear that to expect other teams to do what we would expect our players to do is at best helpful and at worst naive.
Also, surely if neither Danylyk nor the Stevenage player were allowed to return to the field of play (can't comment on the correctness or otherwise of this) then we cannot have been any more disadvantaged than them , both being a player missing?
