I think that a more considered view of the situation results-wise will only be possible when we have played some of the teams that are not likely to be vying for promotion play-offs at the end of the season, say in a month or so.  At that point I expect some calm to have been restored, which will give us the opportunity to look to next season secure in the knowledge that we will remain a part of the NL.  I'm pleased that the majority posting on this topic are still backing PP; I can't help thinking that one or two others must exist in a state where they are permanently at odds with everything going on around them.

We are very much a small edible fish in a pond inhabited by large sharks and piranha.

One thing is for sure, unless we receive significant inward investment we have no future at this level.

Pretty much sums it up.

We are punching far above our weight in almost every match we play.  And equating realism with 'happy clapping' need to give their head a wobble.

Question for those on here who know their stats: I we ranked all the teams in NL and NLN in order, and indicated which were FT and which PT, whereabouts would Alty be?
I really struggling to understand why Hashtag and (some) others are so outraged; if you look at what we are up against, is it really any surprise we are where we are?

Andrew F's post sums up much of how I see things.  A core strength of any team is based on the bond that exists between the players; this season, like others when we have done poorly, there has been far too much chop and change.  Obviously player injury has played a part in this, but I do think there have been too many games when team selection, combined with on-field strategy, has resulted in confusion on the pitch.  I can't help thinking also, that the off-field shenanigans that were designed to grow crowd attendance, but resulted in TBC limiting capacity and forcing us to employ more stringent security, may have proved to be a distraction we could have well done without.

That aside, we should be mindful that of our last 13 league fixtures, 8 have been played against teams that are currently top 10 in the NL, including 4 against teams in the top 5.  Given the history and financial backing many of the teams in this league enjoy, perhaps a dose of realism is what is required.  And for those calling for a change of management, you need to find a better prospect than what we have already.

No denying it’s been a torrid 3 months results wise.  I didn’t think we’d beat Torquay before the game, but we gifted them both goals and that’s incredibly frustrating.  I’ve never liked, nor understood, our insistence on playing the ball laterally across the back; it invites the oppo to press forward and we simply can’t cope.  We are far, far better when we play positive.
Worth pointing out, I feel is that the table shows clearly the split between traditional NL clubs and the clubs that’ve been relegated.  Gulf between the two still exists and we should be mindful
If this when we are quick to criticise.

Having witnessed the horror show at Edgeley Park, I expected us to lose 3-1 tonight, and anyone who thought we’d compete with a quality Stockport side brimful of confidence, needs a dose of realism.
That said, I’m baffled by the decision to play with 5 at the back; I’m guessing Hulme was rested and that, in part, ingjtmrf his fecision..
There were positives, I felt; both new signings look decent, particularly Morgan, and I thought White played well
Think Grimsby might be another difficult encounter.

According to Bill. I suppose it's just a fact of life these days though. I was worried something like this would happen sooner or later. I don't remember something like this happening since I started watching at the Bangor game in 1990, but I dare say someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I assume it was the old gentleman in the wheelchair I saw being wheeled round from the Chequers End in the first half. So far as I know, he has pulled through, and I wish him all the best for his recovery.

In a completely unrelated matter, Bill also related how he didn't want to make our loyal supporters have to jump through more hoops after what we've been through in the last few seasons, hence him reluctantly putting the reduced capacity on tonight's crowd, and I would like to commend him for his actions and express my lasting gratitude to him for this and for standing up for equality. I will not forget this.

And for the people who think that all this doesn't matter compared to the "scandal" of Jordan Hulme not playing, Bill also said he didn't know why he wasn't playing but that that doesn't mean that there wasn't a reason. In fact I could pretty much guarantee there was a reason, and he also said that Hulme was knackered in the later stages of the Barnet game. I would also say that I never expected us to win tonight against a strong County side (Sarcevich - I ask you!), and especially after the long trip to Barnet while County had a rest. It is in the games where we genuinely have a chance to win that I will judge us. And I would reiterate that we have not had a good second season at this level since 1981. If we stay up -  which we almost certainly will now -  so far as I am concerned, we have done alright. The moaners need to get real.

Agree with this.

Stockport were better all over the pitch, just accept it and move on.

The only real problem as I see it here, and that’s if it’s true what I’ve been told, is that we’ve had to pay 100% of his Fylde wage, which apparently is in the region of £700/£800 per week. Now I know we’re desperate for a striker, and I mean absolutely desperate and I know that PP has got the likes of Fitzpatrick, Peersy and Dinanga off the books, but with EO and JH coming in on the money they are, the Jordan one is a HUGE risk on that kind of money.

Anyway, I’m pretty happy with these two, I think they’ll provide us with the ammunition we’ve been craving. Good luck boys

I'm always completely at a loss where people find these figures that are quoted for player wages.  I admit I'm not privy to the finer details of contact negotiation, but can anyone tell me how they can state figures with such certainty?

There are still tickets left that you can buy online if you are an Alty fan

There is no link on the Club website as far as I can tell.....and I've deleted the email sent to ST holders in December.  I think that I'll have to contact the Club tomorrow morning, unless anyone has another suggestion.

Anyone know whether the Club has any spares for Tuesday eve. from fans who can no longer attend?  Pal who has started coming this season didn't buy a ticket originally as he was away over NY.

You could not write it could you? It does get worse. Maybe just proves that TBC are no worse than the others. The Marble Arch mound comes to mind £6m worth of boll**ks   SBL

It's a decent enough view from the top of that, but it was free when I visited. Should it have been built? Nah.

The Marble Arch Mound is in the Prem. League as an example of a spectacular waste of public money; as a monument(?) it is the definition of 'completely underwhelming'.

I realise that statements that come out the Club will be carefully managed (and rightly so) but it is nonetheless striking that players are routinely stating how happy they are playing for PP and Sorvs; says a lot about their man-management and the confidence the players have in them.

Until recently I'd have been very hesitant about welcoming back Hulme, however, having tried (and failed) to find a replacement, I think we are right to re-sign him.  Let'd hope that this IS the answer to our lack of goals.  Welcome Jordan.  #coyr

Have our first choices fallen through?

Barnet and Stockport with 16 players and one lad who might take a few weeks to get up to speed. This group need to pill together and get us to 40 points ASAP.
It's looking more and more like Hulme and that won't happen until they (i.e. Fylde) have brought someone in first.
Just hope we're not putting all our eggs in one basket!

It's the frustration of not knowing that is difficult to take.
Speculating about Hulme is to be expected (to some extent), but it may be that some supporters have read rather too much into some earlier posts.
