V disappointing performance.  We were comfortable even after they scored their first.  What became apparent was the failure to convert the chances we made; we do persist with plan A even when it isn’t working.  A lot of work to be done in the summer.

A new low for the season, total sh*t show on the pitch and fighting in the golf road.

I didn’t see any fighting.  When was this?

Not a bad performance given the disappointment in recent games.  Thought both teams played some nice, open football and a draw was about fair, although we edged them in terms of chances in front of goal.  I'm yet to be convinced by Hugehill, who seems to struggle timing his runs and is dispossessed too easily.  Hulme is growing into an accomplished player at this level, something that I think he doubted for a while.  Decent ref for a change as well.

Agree with almost everything UA posts.  The atmosphere in the matches against Wrexham and York were special and reminded me of why I support Alty and football at this level generally.  On the flip side, the woeful mismanagement by the officials and our stewards at the end of the Trophy semi-final, when the deliberate and sustained interference of the net was allowed to continue casts a shadow over the positives; I am afraid the weak officiating we witnessed that afternoon will continue to irk me for some time yet (and I really, really don't care if anyone thinks I/we need to 'move on').

We need to show some bollocks and pay for policing.

I know you have to hire a job lot of them but even 2 coppers stood in that Halifax end would have solved all that.

Fans/trouble makers don’t give a sh*t about stewards of any form but do when police are there. We know that. We’ve known it for years. We scrimped on police costs and paid the penalty.
Is that true though?  I accept I may be wrong, but I thought that while we could request their presence, the decision on whether they would attend was made by the police themselves.
Interestingly, I was at the game in Runcorn on Tuesday and there was a greater police presence there!

Linney over Hugill for me but otherwise, yes.
100% this.

Given the recent discussion around ground development, something like their north stand would be great in time - with conference facilities etc. However... the last thing we'd want is for something like that to become a white elephant - seems like theirs was completed a few years ago and has barely even been used. £5.75m price tag.
Was with a pal who lives and works in Oldham and has benefitted from hospitality there a few times.  Apparently the lack of use was a result of the football club not 'owning' it.  He did explain it to me, but it all sounded far too wearisome to repeat here.  On a more positive slant, I thought Boundary Park was a well proportioned stadium and it was good to see all four sides populated, rather than having one (sometimes two) stands closed which has become the norm for most ex-FL clubs we visit.

Ah, but here's the rub. The message to fans of teams who are losing going into the final minutes is, you can buy yourself a few more minutes if you chuck a flare onto the pitch. If you're lucky it'll miss the keeper.

I'm not saying that the ref necessarily had a choice, but he will be reflecting on how that call basically condoned hooliganistic behaviour.

You're not buying more time. The game was stopped. Right call from the referee to play out the minute that was lost to deal with the incident and let's be honest, if we were chasing the game and a Halifax smoke bomb was thrown onto the pitch, we would be furious if the referee did not add the extra time on.

How did it get into the ground in the first place? That's the issue.

I think I can answer that. As I've posted previously, I was thoroughly checked by bad attitude steward (on reception at the Oldham game), I suspect because he blamed me for the assault on me at the Notts game that he failed to prevent or deal with. However, it seemed to me that a lot of other people were not being so closely searched. Reading other posts, it seems this may if anything have been worse at the FC end.

From my own experience I'd have to say that the stewards are inclined to be over zealous towards home fans, but are disinclined to step in when needed among large groups of leery away fans.

I couldn't disagree with that more.

It's a clear and obvious breach of the FA's own rules. The club should at the very least, review the footage before making a decision. The nets were being lifted up while the kicks were being taken - I am surprised that more people didn't notice.

Don't think we will appeal it TBH and IF we did and IF we were successful how do you resolve the issue, kick Halifax out of the competition, replay the game or just retake the penalties.
I would imagine the FA would take swift and hard hitting action to impose a hefty fine on the club who staged the game for failing to control the crowd in a safe and appropriate manner.
Regrettably, I think that you may be correct.  However, I imagine the ref could have stalled proceedings (and moved the shootout to the other goal?) or had the kick retaken; he did neither.

Law 14 makes it absolutely clear that the netting should not be moving when the kick is taken; there is no ambiguity.  If the Club do appeal 9and they surely must) and the FA don't take action (as I'm sure they won't because they are spineless) two question have to be asked, 'what is the point of the Law?' and 'What level of interference would mean the penalty could not be taken?'  The ref had the option to retake the pen, but chose not to; I expect that was more to do with trying to avoid an increasingly volatile situation developing among the away support.  Disgraceful officiating.

Difficult to known what to do for tomorrow, but as others have said, avoiding injuries is the priority.

I'd start Linney and then have a relatively strong side made up of regulars plus a few who are normally benched, possibly including Gould.

I'm expecting to get nothing out of this, and if we come through unscathed and having not let in too many goals I will rest easy.

I'd take 1-2 to County tbh.

I seem to remember one of our younger fans being headbutted by a Scarborough fine while switching ends during half time, around the halfway line on the popular side. He was only around 13-15 years old.
If this is the same incident, I recall a number of our more elderly gentleman supporters retaliating with their walking sticks; they made sure that the thug was sent back to Scarborough with a few lumps knocked out of him!

I thought York was the best newbuild ground I've been to so far

As anyone who walked from the centre of York, or who arrived early, will testify, the place was utterly soulless.  Also, I can't recall another stadium where the acoustics inside the ground where so poor.  I was discussing this with my son on the way home, and we both felt that we'd be unlikely to bother going if that was what greeted us.  It's a common problem with out of town stadium that, while setting out to meet planning regs, fail to deliver in terms of fan experience.  There's plenty to improve at ML, but we are right to be cautious when making significant changes.

Not sure whether it's just me, but I'm ridiculously excited about tomorrow.  Not expecting to sleep a wink tonight!

Can't see any sign of cancellations.  Where do I need to look?

On the positive, it's possible to get a return for £20 at the moment, which is rather less than what I paid!
