Mid 60s - Golf Road was open terrace in 65 but covered by 68.

Yes, grass bank, no barriers, many a slippery tumble with a few in. Can't imagine that today, Wigan's Springfield Park had a huge grassy end with a tiny little cover at the top, could've been converted to a ski slope.

Mid 60s - Golf Road was open terrace in 65 but covered by 68.
Think it was done in the close season after the first modern day (in the eyes of those of us of a certain age!) title season of 1965-66.
