Brilliant to see the ground on film all the way back then. Incidentally does anyone know when the roof went on the Golf Road End?

Mid 60s - Golf Road was open terrace in 65 but covered by 68.

Yes, grass bank, no barriers, many a slippery tumble with a few in. Can't imagine that today, Wigan's Springfield Park had a huge grassy end with a tiny little cover at the top, could've been converted to a ski slope.

Think it was done in the close season after the first modern day (in the eyes of those of us of a certain age!) title season of 1965-66.
