Been a long time coming, but great to have a match thread discussing a fixture back at our natural level. Cannot wait for Saturday, it looks like, training ground accidents aside, we have a full squad to pick from. A tough opening fixture as any away game at this level is. Hoping we can go and play the way we can and bring three points home.
-
And I must add that the good confident vibes and quiet determination that shows through in today's NLP interview with lee really is inspiring ahead of next week.
-
Quietly confident about this one. Remember last time we came up and got a good early 2-0 victory there. Think we got up to the giddy heights of 5th around that time. Maybe Aldershot are in for another surprise? 1-0 (Reeves).
-
I will be happy to take a point from this. I know Aldershot lost to AFC wimbledon 3-0 and their pre season has not gone too well.
Some of their fans are a bit disgruntled to say the least.
I hope Altrincham put up a good fight and the fans get behind the team. I know you guys have waited a long time for this.
So savour it and lets get behind Lee and the team this season, from the start.
GOOD LUCK.

If you're signing a winger on loan less than a week before the season starts, you're probably not in such a great place. I'm not pretending I know the first thing about the Shots, but I don't think three points is beyond us.
-
If we don't win I will be calling for various heads to roll at the club
-
I think we'll nick a draw. Reevesy to grab an equaliser in a 1-1. Hopefully about 150 Alty there for the first game of the season.

Agree, starting with Dawn.

Still 0-0. We've not even been in their area yet!

First game and we simply haven't turned up. Very disappointing.

Now, now Brian .....
Steady on !!
In the interests of continued and an uninterrupted vantage point the Radio Robins team has now been relocated to the television gantry opposite the main stand.
It's going to be a long walk to the Noel White Suite for a quick half time pint, but one has to make such sacrifices in the name of progress and corporate hospitality !!
-
Just make sure you don't spill your coffee on us folk who will be stood underneath the gantry.
It will be good to watch you all climbing up and down those ladders.
I will organise a popular side whip round to see if we can get a lift put in for you ;)

Good idea Ray.
But if we put in a Lift for the commentary team, would that then cause viewing restrictions on the popular side!!!??

"All we do know is that they’ve just been promoted so they’ll come here to a big stadium and a big atmosphere full of confidence"
Yes it must at least a thousand more the ours....
-
The Aldershot players must get a thrill most away games at finding 4 sides on a ground....
Patronising goit!

Yes I thought that. I don't know who of our current playing staff has played at the Rec before but it's hardly the Bernabeau, unless it's improved drastically since we last went there about 5 years ago, I always thought it was a pretty basic faculty all told. On a separate note it has been raining steadily in South London now for the last 3ish hours, admittedly Aldershot is about 40 miles south of here but I hope their big stadium has got good draininge. I suspect below the Conference there could be the odd opening day postponement tomorrow.

I was on the stadium tour of White Hart Lane the other day (don't ask!) and they have plans to build a new ground almost half on top of the current ground. To make it work they're planing a three sided stadium for a season. No doubt it'll be fine for them...
Today is the day...COME ON ALTY COME ON ALTY.

Rain stopping at 2 am and a sunny day in Aldershot tomorrow

The three that I'm focused on is not the number of sides on the ground......it's the number of points I want to bring home.
46 minutes to the coach and counting ! COME ON YOU ROBINS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Much to my disappointment we now have a 'community stand' at the High Street End. So I guess we are now nearly 4 sides! We also have Chelaea's fibre sand pitch from last season...it makes our playing surface the best in the division....
Have a safe trip down and enjoy your visit...I'm leaving home in five minutes!
-
It might be the best in the division but it's definitely a lot smaller than our last visit!
