Get rid of this grey away kit.
Maybe clutching at straws but when I first saw us in it at Chester there was a pass out wide in the first half and I was wondering who the player had passed it to because the receiving player had blended into the crowd.
Sometimes you need to pass a ball using the corner of your eye or in a blink second. The purple kit would have been perfect for this.
We have also been toothless and clueless away from home this season.
Away from home we need to play wingers on their strongest side to get around the full backs on the outside. We can get away with them cutting in at home but our strength away is on the outside with the support of fullbacks but we still attempt to go on the inside.
Need to sort the kit and away form out.

Need to sort recruitment out, that’s our main issue.

That's true

Yeah I must admit, apart from the loan players we are no better than last year, if not weaker than last year.
Just feel the league is a better standard and a lot of our players haven't improved.
Both fullbacks have been poor all season.
Desperately need that centre midfielder.
Worryingly we will need to rely so much on Ceesay because he can make us from an average team to a playoff team.
-
We aren’t any better than our championship winning season.

Also very true. Needs addressing very quickly or even the playoffs will run away from us.

I have to agree, regardless of how well things are or aren't going on the pitch, that kit is horrible. We should play in red and white whenever we can.

I completely agree with this but I don’t think it’s our main issue at the moment.
We got lucky getting a penny back from Branson, he came with a reputation but looked terrible.
-
I think the sale of Branston leaves us a player short. We usually operate on a one-in, one-out basis, so I'd expect to see a new midfielder arrive shortly. We don't appear to have anyone on the bench who can come on and change a game. With the best will in the world, neither Peers nor Harrop are going to do this.
Forgot to say, ditch that kit - it's poo.
-
That was bloody awful again today! So so poor from the off...we did absolutely nothing in front of goal. We are far too nice to teams too! Sometimes you need to play dirty! No excuses today that was terrible. I only remember one shot on target from hemmings..other than that the keeper had sod all to do. We gave them far too much time on the ball and barely closed them down around the penalty box leading to several chances and of course goals
Changes needed and new players! We need a striker in ASAP. Hulme is good but we rely on him too much. 3/4 decent players short here!

The kit is a crime against humanity, and I wouldn't be seen dead in a ditch wearing that shirt. But the team were beyond awful this afternoon, and for the third time this season I was angered by their performance away from home. I will not be travelling again until things improve considerably.

Good evening everyone, those criticising the kit, please understandt the player’s played a part in design, and supporters chose the design from options listed. Also, sales through the club shop have bettered any other replica away kit options during my time as kit supplier. Also, I’m happy to respond to any issues direct to you, the supporters.
-
No one has slated the officials yet. Surely it was their fault

The referee was no worse than 98% of those we've had this season. Butterfield should have had a second yellow for sure. But if we'd had the best referee in the world, we'd still have lost, because we were simply dreadful.
Take the time to read John Laidlar's match report - as usual, he is 100% correct.

I guess you either like it, or you don't. I personally won't be buying it as it's utter crap. What was wrong with the lovely purple kit?
-
Ian, what level of in put did the players in? Or did they just not hate the kit?
With all due respect to the players, they're paid money to play in it, I don't think they genuinely care that much about it. It's essentially a uniform.
-
Just as a matter of clarification - is the grey kit a change strip (only to be used if there is a colour clash with our normal red & white) or is it meant to be the norm for away matches?
-
I voted for it when given the chance and I still like it now. Fair enough if some people don't like it, it's a simple matter of taste at the end of the day. I have to say, though, if we were in the top 5 and playing better I don't think we would be having long threads about people disliking a kit. I don't give a sh*t what they wear as long as the players start performing better on the pitch.

I honestly feel it affects our performances.
I am not making any excuses for the dire away displays and poor form of the players but there is a genuine reason United only wore grey once.
I spoke with a non league manager last week and he said why have they gone for grey. Hard colour to play in, floodlights, colour of most stands/concrete etc. He chose a bright away kit this year.
To repeat again, the purple kit was great for us. Stood out for quick passes.

I think something gone wrong off the pitch. I don't think it's kit or the directors but something in that changing room.
The team spirit is dire our there.

It's very worrying mate, that's for sure. I hope we turn the corner and soon.

This kit chat is irrelevant. This gets to the heart of the matter for me. The same players that got within a penalty shoot out of the play off final 4 months ago have turned out some absolute dross so far this season. Mentality and attitude has to come into it.

This kit chat is irrelevant.....
So too is my snickers

It's difficult to pinpoint precisely where we've gone wrong: a bit of bad luck early doors affecting confidence; teams wizing up to our style of play; a thinner squad in the absence of influential team players like Harrison and Poole; poor summer recruitment; injuries and suspensions; even the crappy kit (our away form is coincidentally abysmal). Take your pick, but something is wrong. Of course, win at Chester and it could kick start everything. We need to get as many people down to Chester as possible on Saturday to ensure this happens.

If there had been a "none of the above" option, I'd definitely have voted for it. The purple was the best away kit we've ever had in my opinion.
I have to say that I found it difficult to pick out JJ on the far side of the pitch on Saturday, and also to distinguish his movement accurately. There's definitely an argument against this kit, but, as others have said, the problems appear to run far deeper than that.

I'll throw something into the mix:
Why did we wait until June before making the important decision that Jake Moult needed an operation? It resulted in us losing our Captain for the first month of the season and disrupted the team hugely. If the decision had been taken right at the end of the season and he'd had the procedure sooner, I believe it would have hurt us a lot less than it actually has done.
It won't be the only reason but it can't have helped.
-
Was the decision made in June?
-
I'm pretty sure the decision was made and plans were set in motion well before the news was broken by the club, but please don't quote me on that one.

This is an interesting point. The news article published on our official website on 30th June gives the impression that the decision had not long been made, but that is not necessarily the case as you stated above.

For those that follow such things, I notice the new Football Manager 20 has just been released, altys away kit is purple
-
Kit apart there's a lot of rubbish on this thread. We're probably in a worse position than we were back in September but I see a team out there who are functioning again.
Can't justify going to Kings Lynn because of other commitments but looking forward to seeing how much we've improved when we meet York.

Utd in some weird pink or salmon colour - wtf ! Makes grey look normal !

Hideous.
-
Where are we up to with this - did I read that the grey kit is getting a yellow 're-spray'?
If so, I think it'd look dead smart with the red/white fading sash - and should erase the on-field problem...
EX GK...?
-
May I put in a request for this kit as a tribute to my favourite band?
