An invaluable 3 points... over the moon!!
-
I had us down for a defeat at chester a defeat today and a point at guisley this is a brilliant result well done
If we can get a point or more at guisley we can have the belief we can go all the way
-
WHAT A MASSIVE WIN
-
Huge!
-
what a second half performance.
shows we have the guts to go up.
Guiseley were drawing 0-0 at half time.
harrogate were 2-2 at half time
chester won 1-0.
-
Harrogate lost 4-2 away to solihull
guiseley drew 0-0
-
Not best performance, but will take points, Tuchman leather and way more were poor today
-
Harrogate lost 4-2 away to solihull
guiseley drew 0-0
Guisley lost.

Out all day just got back. Can't believe it. What a fantastic result.
Come on Alty!
-
Amazing result at this stage of the season, so important with other results generally going our way too. I can't find an updated tableyet anywhere but sure as eggs are eggs I'll be gazing at it for a good while. Bradford the threat now, we just need to keep going and pick up points.
Lets not be all Alty and draw at Hinckley or something :o
-
An astonishing game and an amazing result. Halifax had conceded only 24 goals in the league before today, so to put four past them is sensational.
Has the feel of a pivotal win.
-
Immense! That substitution at half time was key and, injuries permitting, the team that started the second half should start the game on Tuesday. Feeling good tonight! :)
-
Biggest win of the season for me if we make playoffs.
Up to 4th, might even catch Brackley.
This result will give the lads real confidence! I'm over the moon
-
As mentioned in another thread Reeves is on 40 goals for the season now. To do it once is a brilliant achievement but to do it two seasons consecutively is out of this world, well done Damian!
-
Harrogate lost 4-2 away to solihull
guiseley drew 0-0
Guisley lost.
what was the final score?
That will be a great boost for us on Thursday night.
-
Great result.Come on you Robins
-
Today we looked like we'd go up. In a game of 10/10 performances, Scott Leather again got 11.
-
Fantastic result at a place we've historically struggled at.
Also worth highlighting our superb away record at our fellow promotion hopefuls this season. Wins at Gainsbourough, Harrogate, Brackley and now Halifax. Just Guiseley and BPA now for the full set please...

A day of surprise results. The one that did not go in our favour was Brackley beating Guisley. That was a game I was banking on Brackley to loose so we might just catch them. However on paper Brackley have the easier run in.

Massive win! Leather at centre half,Doughty left back all day long for me!

It seams they did not panic and sit back and defend when Halifax scored.
Did Havern have a good game?
-
A game like that does nothing for the health of us old-timers!!! ;) Really thought we had blown it after the second and third Halifax goals, but excellent comeback from the team.
-
I thought everyone was outstanding today, but I have to give special mentions to firstly Scott leather, what a composed performance by a young player, didnt put a foot wrong in a performance that belied his young age. And Simon Richman confirmed to me today why I'll be voting for him as player of the season, what a performance, goals a side, what a performance. As rounded Performance by an altrincham player as I've seen in a very long time. Great to see the joy and emotion at full time from the usually measured Mr Sinnott as well, he was loving it. The reaction from the supporters, the bench and most importantly the players at full Time shows you we have the ability and we have the minerals to get ourselves back where we should be.
-
Richman was massive, superb. clee creative and watmore set all the goals up
-
Much better with Leather at CB and Douhhty LB
Fantastic result considering how soft their goals were scored.
Another much better 2nd half performance again
-
Agreed that Leather should be CB and Doughty at LB although with that rapid right winger who ripped us apart for 20 mins, maybe that affected the team selection if we had them watched. The change was made at the right time though.
Every player worked so hard today (although that game passed Boshell by) but Richman was outstanding for me.
He must have run about 20 miles, tackle after tackle and two goals. That lad could become an Alty legend of the future I think.
Leather superb, Watmore immense, Reeves worked his tripe of.
We don't get many days like this and we should enjoy them. Not many expected that!
-
Have I calculated this right? Chester champions today?
-
Yes Chester are promoted
-
Have I calculated this right? Chester champions today?
Yes, because Guiseley lost Chester are champions..deserved too.
-
I agree Richman was MOM, but they all played well apart from Hall who seemed very sluggish first half, injured?
Dunc did his usual once we got the ball to him.
Scott was immense second half, but it's the TEAM who deserve the praise tonight, the whole team and management for a very gutsy performance to a man.
You can clearly see the fantastic spirit now in this side.
I'm usually a sceptic but even I now think we have a chance of getting back to where we want to be, maybe :o
-
Yes...and all done despite a completely inept referee - who got two potentially game changing decisions wrong before playing on until 2 minutes to five !

Great achievement to beat both the opponents and the Ref.
-
Halifax fans can't believe that wasn't a pen on Duncan and that challenge on Nicky was awful.
The ref wasn't just bad he was weird.

Be interesting to see if its in the highlights package...
£4.50 is more than worth it to watch that game again!
-
Best performance in sinnott era i am pissed and very happyx

radio robins said it was terrible and should have been red
-
Half an hour in, I was convinced we would get thrashed. And to be honest, I wasn't convinced we'd win even at half time.
But the substitution made a massive difference. Scott and Luca are a formidable partnership.
That Watmore is rubbish......starts things off, and other people have to finish the job for him ;)
Simon Richman was absolutely awesome this afternoon.
-
Big win today
Although as I expected Halifax were very average, and I think we will come ahead of them now
Every player was excellent today, except for Hall who was sh*t as usual
Leather CB, Doughty LB is the way forward Lee
I am only crapping myself about Bradford now lol :D
-
just walked in at 3.ooam been presenting karaoke all night, run of my arse and no chance to look at my phone for updates from ghanna, fully expected to hear bad news . what a fantastic result . please tell me more.
-
Very well done. Congrats to everyone involved. STUpendous result.

Ref described by RR as "Prancing!"
Had to go to work at 1-1, when I caught up with the result on JL's live text I had to look twice. Unbelievable! Immense!

Been interested to see if LS or any of the players have any comments re the Ref, JL was giving him both barrels throughout on the text commentary, he sounded a right joker.
Another good thing about beating a big club who actually have a few fans and a forum that more than 10 people use is trawling through the bitter post game recriminations on their forum. A number want Aspin sacked and most think they have no chance in the play offs. It's reminiscent of this place in many ways, haha!
-
Just had a laugh at the comments and recriminations on the Halifax forum, here are a few comments;
"Watmore is as good as I've seen in striker this season. Reeve's finish for his second was sensational"
"Reeve's and Watmore pulled our 2 centre backs apart today and made them look amateur right from the first minute"
"This season Sinnott added the centre back pairing of Hyde's promotions team to a squad including Watmore, Reeves, Lawrie, Clee add to that now Boshell. They should be pissing this league"
and finally,..... "I agree, I think BPA look a great shout for the 5th and final play off spot. They are on form, confident and scoring lots of goals. The same can't be said about us. Also, we have one of the hardest run ins plus the fact we still need to play 12/13 games. Too many people are being ignorant to the decent teams around us in assuming we are guaranteed a play off spot. I think we will miss out if I'm being honest!"

It's weird reading other fans think we should be pissing this league when we all know there's been some duff Alty performances this season. Chester have pissed this league and rightly so. Also a couple of comments about the poor state of the Shay pitch being a leveller for lower quality visting teams. I think there is some mileage in that argument.
Nerves starting to show at Halifax...
-
FAN BLOODY TASTIC , Thougth we were going to get hammered the way it started , second half sub made a big diffrence , Leather should play centre back instead of Hall , Richman my mom and player of the year for me , he has improved so much this season , onwards and upwards from now , cant make guisley unfortunately .
-
Yes agree with most of that a quality display with a determenation and spirit that I wasn't convinced we could do the change half time made won us game leather as a centre half looks like he will be back in football leauge soon
-

It a fair point though
We really should have done so much better across the whole season
Late good run is going to get us 4th or 5th but we should really be up challenging Guiseley and Chester. But of course the aim has always been play offs
-
Home advantage in any playoff final would be massive, the pitch at Halifax is not fit for purpose, Guiseley, Harrogate or BPA would make it all ticket and that would impact on our following, and Brackley is comparatively a long way

unlikely though unless we finish 4th (if ruling out finishing 3rd) and then need team that finishes 5th prob halifax or bpa to beat guiseley over two legs (possible but i would back guiseley)
-
I'd be surprised if any club made it all ticket?! I couldn't see Harrogate,BPA or Guiseley getting more than 1500 for a play off match against Alty taking into consideration we'd take 350-400.
-
I think for a final we would take a lot more than that semi maybe a tad more but not all ticket
-

semi 400, final maybe 600-700 ?
-
There was 3946 at the finsl last year Gainsborough v Nuneaton and it was all ticket
In the semis Guiseley 1650 against nunny, BPA v FCUM was all ticket in the evostick playoff
-
Although as I expected Halifax were very average, and I think we will come ahead of them now
"Very average"...?
That's a rather glib statement from a man of your Non League knowledge and experience, if I may say so!
Halifax dominated the first half and fully deserved to be ahead at half-time.
Their leading goalscorer, Gregory, had to go off injured after only fifteen minutes and their second highest goalscorer this season to date, Gareth Seddon, was sitting in the Main Stand.
If we had lost Reeves in similar circumstances and had also been without Watmore, then I suspect that we might well have been "very average"...!
In addition, their most creative player, Gardner, was substituted at half-time owing to an injury.
-
By average I mean a team in the top six of the BSN not Barcelona
I.e nothing for us to be scared of, or we shouldn't be anyway. For the first 30 minutes we were scared of them and you could tell in our play. However when we stopped worrying about them and played our game we took control and were by far the better team
I think the Halifax forum has it spot on
-
Wonderful result. We've a really good chance of making the playoffs now.
Re Halifax - I think fatigue/injuries are catching up with them now. And I suspect the same is true of Harrogate, who've also had a couple of important players depart. It was always going to be a struggle for them with so many postponements.
I'd gladly take a draw + no injuries/suspensions from the Guiseley fixture.
