And another thing

How can they claim on the site, that Rod Thornley went down too easily. For gods sake his neck whiplashed back when he was pushed, I saw it clearly. Even if Rod had not gone down, the infringement was still there for all to see, plus it was committed by an ex Northwich player.

A push is a push at the end of the day, there was no clearer example of a penalty to me. We fully deserved a share of the spoils.

All note that Wrexham have a keeper and striker problem after Saturdays game, read it in my inlaws Welsh Daily post copy this am.

See you all at the game later..

Hi People

I have already ordered my tickets from Wrexham via their phoneline.

They were very helpful. I am over in Broughton this weekend staying at my inlaws in a very well planned visit, so me and Chris and Alex will be at the game.

See you Sat and Monday

Why do you say that littlecam.

We do actually care what happens to vics, you are one of our major arch rivals, who I myself have watched regularly for the last 33 years when we have been in the same league. I always have, and still do look out for our fixtures and as said in a previous thread, would hate to see the demise of your club. This thread is for the use of anybody with an opinion about something, including our arch rivals. There are lessons to be learnt for all clubs, and from what we can see, you aint the only one in the Conference with major problems.

I hope you get them sorted cos I and others at Alty do not want to be denied the chance to watch you and our team play. Good luck to you all, and remember if no one is interested in what happens at Vics, we would not have replied to your thread.

Best of luck once again - Steve from Sale

Lets take a look at what we really achieved. A team which has won 12 games on the bounce, we are the first team to break that run and actually take points off them, something which some higher placed teams have failed to do as yet. I do not see the managerial change has made that much difference to them, I just think we have improved to that extent.

Remember Rome wasnt built in a day, but its onwards and upwards from hereon, because lets face it, why should we fear anybody in this league. The only other one is Torquay, and when have they got great results against us.

Highwayman

From what I can gather on reading the NVFC fans lines yesterday, we were paid out of the gate money and they took the rest.

Makes common sense I suppose and gives us handy revenue at a time when we have no revenue from home games currently, whilst giving our local rivals a helping hand. Despite the rivalry between us and Northwich, the two clubs are fairly close to one another and therefore get on well also. I am proud of the fact that my club helped their club at their time of need, and gained many brownie points from them and their fans; and not least from the football world in general. It may not have been obvious from the Granada reports, but it was there for the Northwest public to see. That's real football to me. Fair enough, Vics are very close rivals but we all kind of have a love/hate relationship with them. Hands up those who miss the NVFC games when we are in different leagues, because I know I did and Vics fans did also. Most fans did not want to see anything happen to Vics and for them to go belly up as we would have lost all this.

I remember when we helped Vics with the away stewarding two years ago with the crazy segregation, desperately trying to keep the fans apart after the goal. After the game, barr one or two incidents, hands met through the fence and shook together. Thats also real football, and why I love the non-league game.
I also remember the Alty fans breaking through some red-tape, near the segregation area when Rod scored a couple of seasons ago.  After the furore had died down from the goal, the fans went back and stood exactly where the red tape had been in an orderly line and just glared at the Vics fans. I was at the back of the 20/20 end watching over everything, and it looked really funny.

We go back a long way, Vics and us, and I would have hated to see them go down and out; and I am more than glad that my club has chipped in and helped them in their time of need.

Long live the Alty/Vics derby, and bring them both on at Moss Lane, sooner rather than later.

Sorry to waffle on

For the Everton game at Man U there were just over 35000 fans at Old Trafford, I was at the game and remembered the attendance being announced.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Clough on his way ?
« on: January 07, 2009, 09:38:19 AM »
I have to say that I admire Burton Albion and Nigel Clough for their style of football, playing the game the way it should be played, pass and move the ball about. I am an Alty fan through and through of course, but felt that Burton were one of the more attractive footballing sides to watch opposition wise.

I sincerely wish Nigel Clough well in his new role, and hope he transfers his style of play as a manager to Derby County. It took him some time to achieve where Burton are now, but I wonder what will happen to Burton now he has gone, time will tell. I think Derby will do well with him at the helm, but it will again take time. Hope their board have the patience. As a player I always thought he was an intelligent footballer, who could open up a defence with an astute pass, and always scored vital goals, especially for his old fella.

I can see his appeal to Derby, who have been eying him for some time, and no doubt admired Burton's football style. The question remains, can he tranfer his style to the Championship and beyond. My gut feeling is yes, but after 3-4 years or so. Still see a lot of his dads influence in him now and again, just keeps himself to himself a bit more.

Good luck is what I say

Ecky

May I start by saying that I think you, Gary and Hughesy and the others do a great job with the singing. I am also sure when you get home you have to gargle TCP until midnight at least. I know the lads on the pitch appreciate it, especially when they play away.

I know where James is coming from, as when I was younger in my earlier years during the 70s teams, I tried to start chants off at the Golf Road end. They were met with a stony silence, presumably I felt because I was not one of the normal song starters. This happened on a couple of occasions, getting me laughed at by my mates, but leaving me self conscious about singing at football matches. I rarely join in now for longer than a few lines. I am unable to do so as a club steward anyway.

The thing is when you are a steward, you can listen as well as watch the crowd; and the craic at Altrincham is fabulous. The banter in particular is very very funny between the home fans and away fans and very intelligently thought up. I always felt that the Altrincham fans have a good knack of being able 'to get under away fans skin' This is even without Hughsie, who is/was particularly funny. This has been hampered somewhat by the Setanta camera stand near the sterile area. As I normally work between both sets of fans I am between it all the time.

All I can say is, if you all hear a song starting by anybody other than our main group, join in and keep the momentum going, rather than letting it die a death.

2 Questions:-

Where is Hughsie?
What is the meaning behind, 'Have you had your chicken dinner John McGrath' or is this one so obvious I should not be asking.

Cheers and be up for it all of you on NYD

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Why are Vics Stewards so sh*t and bias
« on: December 26, 2008, 11:36:18 PM »
I think a lot of us are missing the point here. The behaviour of the Northwich steward was disgusting, when he threw the ball at Shaun Densmore. At Altrincham, had any of us done something like that we would rightly been disciplined by our superiors and also by the club. The stewards job is purely for the safety of all supporters in the ground, home and away fans, and I found that stewards behaviour crass and unprofessional. I sincerely hope he is hauled over the coals by NVFC but somehow I doubt if we will hear any further about this.

Perhaps some of my fellow stewards would like to add a comment about this, but there is no way an Alty steward would have done anything like this. Had he/she done so they would rightly have been disciplined.

James, I think you were right to be annoyed about that incident; because I damn well was!!

Finally, well done lads, great win today, proud of ya!
