Altrincham FC First Team / Re: New Kit

I must be honest, the original 85/86 kit of one stripe was never a favourite of mine but at least the white isn't as wide as the 80s version.

The registration process doesn't seem to like the Google Chrome browser - it works fine in Microsoft Edge and Firefox

A big loss. Very solid defender and an above average goal threat. I like Mullarkey - skillful and assured on the ball but I dont think he's as good a defender. Jones reminded me off a more mobile Mal Bailey and I'm sure he'll do well at a higher level.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Alty v Chester PLAYOFF MATCH THREAD

We won our first competitive match since March against a decent team. Whether we played well or not, the result is what's important at this stage. PP and the team will take that, they know they can play better and will see what did and didnt work. Let's celebrate a great win. We've got another game to look forward to now!

I remember ex Alty striking legend John Rogers acting as "sponge man" when a player got injured in the late 80s, even though as far as I recall he was an electrician! On one memorable occasion an Alty player got a boot in the most painful place possible and, as the injured party writhed in agony near the touchline, several of us on the terraces heard JR's classic diagnostic question "Is it yer f***ing orchestras?"!!  :D :D :D :D

I recall John Wood going up to punch a ball away, missing, but only enough for the ball to run along his arm, over his shoulder and into the net :)

From memory, a similar story was recounted in a match programme around 1977 by then director Len Pollitt. I'm sure he talked about Alty being 1-0 up but 3-1 down when the smoke cleared. I'll dig the programme out and let you know.

Personally I think while people are still dying of COVID-19 every day in significant numbers and there is still no clear way forward, be it a vaccine, a natural eradication or whatever of the virus then all sport should just be put on hold. I understand the need to plan but I don't see the point of compromises like playing behind closed doors - sport is a spectator driven pastime for pity's sake. Some people may get upset because they are losing the rewards of a good season but surely its better to have clubs still in business and supporters still around to watch them when we eventually emerge on the other side of this.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Question to Alty TV
« on: May 04, 2020, 12:52:50 PM »
As Alty TV says, it all depends what level of video work you're doing.  I've recently been putting together some virtual band videos and have managed quite happily with my laptop which is about 5 years old running an older i5 processor with 8GB RAM under Windows 10. The software I use is Wondershare Filmora 9. Obviously I wouldn't compare with the professional quality of Alty TV output but what I use has done a decent job. Definitely recommend any computer you get to have a solid state hard drive, much much faster.

I don't know much about Elliot Durrell TBH but Josh Lundstram's loan period ends next week I believe so is Durrell seen as a replacement?

Kettering were better than us throughout but they never really looked like scoring a second.

Not too sure about that. That lad at 10, thankfully, missed a couple of late chances for them when they got back on top, and I thought they had a fairly decent penalty shout with 5 mins to go.
But agree with the rest of it, if we can still pick up points on the odd occasion we play as badly as that (bar a decent 20 mins after HT), then we’re doing ok. Will need to to be much better on Tuesday mind.

It was disappointing to see a couple of lads, clearly new visitors to Moss Lane, asking at the turnstiles at 2:40pm if they could pay by card and being told to find a cashpoint. If the e-ticketing system is in operation there should at least be a flyer by the turnstiles with the web address.

We were due a bad game. They were well organised defensively but too many of our players weren't on their game today. The wind played a part but its the same for both teams. I'd have liked Mooney to drift out wide a bit more and stretch their defensive marking. Got to be happy with a point all things considered, we'll play better and lose.
