New signings
« on: December 28, 2007, 05:40:05 PM »

From main site:-

2 players on loan from Rotherham United, Central Defender Liam King and striker Tom Cahill, both are on one month loans with three other possible players to be named.

What do you folks think, any info on these lads.

Says they can play on New Years Day ;D

If they are good, will we be able to extend their loans.

Is Nick Daws still at Rotherham? Maybe he has been a handy contact here.

"Altrincham FC have signed, on one-month loans, two players from Rotherham United. They are central defender Liam King, who played against Alty in a pre-season friendly for the Millers."

Oh Lord, didn't we score FIVE that day?!

I'm sure that it was a one-off!

Let's pray that they have a similar impact to the loan players who have helped to rejuvenate Vics.

If you check the report, It seems he came on when we had already scored the 5 goals.

Thank God for that!

I'd like to see permanent players come in (if only on non-contract terms) rather than loan signings... hopefully one of the 3 "future" signings will fit the bill.

Do I take it that as one of the loanees is a Central Defender that Ryan Shotton will not now return? or is GH just trying to get a bit of cover for Tinson and Munroe?

Sounds promising but hope the lad isn’t too lightweight for this league.

I believe they are referring to his height at under 6 feet

Liam played in the first team towards the end of last season in league one but as a central midfielder not centre back, so it'll be interesting to see where he plays.  He has been the captain of the reserve team this season.

I haven't seen Cahill because I think he has only played in the JPT.

I'm definately coming to Moss Lane for the Kidderminster game in my new Alty shirt now  :)

We need Liam King in midfield. Does he get stuck in? Is Cahill more of a right winger or a central striker, because we really need both. I suppose I should ask, do Rotherham have a left back we could borrow?

From what I've seen of Liam he is a get stuck in type of midfielder so I think that will be GH's thinking and Cahill is a striker but Matlock fans will know more about him then most Rotherham fans.   Natt Kerr seems to have done really well at Northwich so hopefully more of the same here.

Don't have a left back spare im afraid but if we do get one then im sure Nick Daws will be on the phone  ;)
