Currently Alty fan Mike Reeves (bighairedmike - on here) is attempting to climb a mountain in preperation for a summer expadition around scotland, you may have seen the posters in the bar.
from there facebook group about the expadition:
In July 2009 Michael Taylor and Michael Reeves will attempt to cross the breadth of Scotland, climb the highest mountain in the British Isles, and traverse some of Britain's most rugged terrain on the Isle of Skye.
In preparation, we shall climb Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon, the highest mountains in England and Wales respectively.
In total we aim to walk over 150 miles, climb over 4,000 metres (just under half the height of Mount Everest) and explore some of Britain's most remote countryside.
On top of this, we intend to raise the St Ambrose Flag above the highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales.
Our Journey will begin on the 14th April, when we shall climb Scafell Pike from the picturesque valley of Wasdale in the Lakes.
On the Bank Holiday Weekend of the 2nd May we then intend to climb Mount Snowdon from the town of Llanberis.
Once we have hoisted the St Ambrose banner above these peaks, and assuming we are still alive by the 6th July, we shall begin our final expedition.
We'll start at Inverness, the capital of the highlands. From here we shall travel the 73 miles down the Great Glen, wild camping each night and carrying all our equipment to the town of Fort William. We then intend to climb the final mountain of the three peaks - Ben Nevis, where we shall hoist the St Ambrose flag above the highest point in Great Britain.
Again, making the dubious assumption that we'll survive, we shall travel to the Isle of Skye, where we will be walking through a rugged landscape with an ancient history.
We'll be traversing boggy marshes, passing ancient abandoned villages and climbing the mountains that some commentators have described as "the toughest in Britain".
Mike is also using this as a way to raise money for the club, BUT HE NEED OUR SUPPORT !!!! so please sponser him if you can.
