I remember him well from the 80s. I thought he was ancient then, but I suppose you think everyone is ancient when you're 17.

He must be knocking on some now then? Does he still go to games?

He does mate, he is there at most home games.

He has been ill with throat cancer a year or so ago but he saw that off and was in fine form last time I saw him.

Great news his first act as Vice President should be to tell lee who to use as subs and who not too

Then inform him when to bring said subs on :)

Kenny is indeed a true Alty legend. I saw him at the Trafford v Ashton game last month. I was with my old man who knows him quite well. We spent the 2nd half having a good chat about Alty fc, Timperley cricket club and then his throat cancer which he simply dismissed as 'one of those things' !! Great gesture by the club and fully deserved.

Good to know he's still about. I'll keep an eye out on Boxing Day.

I remember he had pride of place on the Alty float at the Alty Festival - he was pleased as punch!

Can't think of anyone more deserving - a true fan and what a character. In his younger days (and mine!) I remember him "warming up" by running up and down the touchline near the bench as a hint to the manager it was time to get the subs on.

I am sure he once bumped into a linesman, or substitute doing that. Known him since 1974 when I started watching Alty. Ever since then I have spoken to him virtually every time we meet. Great chap, and what an honour the club has bestowed on this fine man.

Well done Kenny and the board!!

Any chance RR can get the man himself for another in the occasional series of half time interviews? He'd be the first person ever to be interviewed twice on RR.

I'm sure that can be arranged at a home game soon.

Probably most Alty fan's first game is meeting or hearing about Kenny. Told my dad about this last night and he knew who I meant, and he's not been to a game since I was able to go games on my own. Fantastic gesture by the club and fully deserved too.
