Title: Spennymoor Match Thread
Post by: that man showler on January 13, 2020, 11:07:45 AM
Going to be a very tough test.
Be happy with a point so a 1-1 for me.
Not sure on the injury front but same starting 11 as Saturday.

Tough game, should have won there last season.

Doubt Ringo and Tom Hannigan available. So squad will be stretched. Barring injuries guess willo and Jones as replacements.

Point would be good, win superb. Working so cannot travel, will listen on RR.

Anything at all from this game would be great, assuming Brendan doesn't get it called off.

I really am concerned that we are - as per previous comments - stretching a thin squad too far-  and, if we are going to sustain a promotion/play offs push-  we really need to focus on strengthening the squad pretty urgently - for me we need a central defender, a central midfielder/playmaker and a centre forward to work with Jordan - who is playing superbly but not getting the goals because he is not getting the service he needs, and who is being man marked every game.

Back to tomorrow- can't go myself - hoping for a narrow win, but suspect a draw best realistic prospect.

Expectecting Hannigan to be available, not sure about Peers but definitely no Richman.

Spennymoor 1-1 Alty Hulme

Spennymoor have lost 4 of their last 5 games, so we should be capable of winning. A draw would still be a decent result. Was going to go but don't fancy the likely weather conditions. It's an age thing.

Will be happy with a point from the game tomorrow - might have to start with the side that finished on Saturday if the injuries are still in effect. Thought Wall was pretty decent on Saturday, deserves a run.

PP normally brings in reinforcements for the play off push.....

win tonight then a draw at Gateshead ideal scenario....but 3 points from the next two fixtures is better than 2 points....stating the obvious....

Both of the other games in our league have been called off. A draw would therefore move us past Boston into 5th, but ideally we need to win, as they'll now have a game in hand on us - so will Brackley, but to get within three points of them would be a decent achievement - even though their goal difference is 21 better than ours.

Absolutely gutted for those that travelled, club players officials and fans. This is very wrong by Spennymoor, why was the decision not made earlier as we have done in the past?

Sorry I don't understand this as it is in stark contrast to what we have done with home games.
Why do we (Altrincham FC) have pitch inspections at times like 9am for a Saturday and call games off up to 5-6 hours before kick off, and this happens at away games about 1 hour before?

Do the team/club have to pay for away travel for situations like this?

Think  the club will get compensated for coach hire, but individuals not.

Poor assurance from spennymoor when it's not their call

It’s a poor show  from Spennymoor, and the Ref, if he had any nous about him he would have got his arse up there earlier and assessed the situation in time to stop unnecessary travel. Officialdom in this league isn’t that great is it. I feel for those who travelled..

Yes. I think they do have to cover our official team coach expenses but the half days leave everyone will have had to take off work to get up there and will now have to take again. It’s a really poor do. A lot of the lads will have young families too and it’s not very fair on them to be getting home in the early hours of the morning again. Spennymoor, of course, have done a very similar thing to Boston in the recent past and had that segregation fence that collapsed on some Darlo fans at their Christmas derby game. Off the pitch they have never given the impression of being a well run club, even though they do appear to have quite a lot of cash.

Spennymoor have issued a statement about the postponement. Basically, they are very apologetic, but blame the referee. Their chief executive says he will pay for the coach for the rearranged game!

Won't Spennymoor also have to pay for the team travel as the game was called off so late?

Yes, they will.

They blame the referee, because its his decision. If there was to be any doubt the inspection should have been earlier as others said. There only needs to be 1 small area he deems unplayable for him to postpone the match.

Photo on John Laidlar's site shows one of the goal areas waterlogged. That would be enough these days.

What a total shambles. Sunday league fixtures are better organised! Never mind the referee the club are at fault in my opinion. They must have known the condition of the pitch and the length of journey the away team had to travel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY COULD HAVE CALLED AN EARLY INSPECTION FROM A LOCAL REFEREE ............Absolutely disgusting and shows absolute total disregard. They seemed to have done this before?
Putting aside the inconvenience of everyone that travelled what about the carbon footprint?
We all hear about emissions/global warming etc etc etc Well Spennymoor shame on you.
I hope one day we can repay!!!!!!!!!!  SBL
