Utter disgrace....did he even book the player who assaulted Lawrence?..
-
I wasnt there today but sadly we are at such a low level we are going to have to get used to this
-
Fair point but the ref was the least of our worries today.
Our biggest issue is that without James Poole we are utterly mediocre.

I think the only player he booked was Bembo (as opposed to Bembo-Leta) for an earlier incident. A Google search reveals he is from Sheffield so we are doubtful to have him for the replay, although, having said that, I think our failure to win had nothing to do with him.

We can't blame the ref for our failing to press home a 3-goal advantage against a massively inferior side. However, every person in the ground saw the blatant push on Tom Peers, which should have resulted in a penalty prior to the one we conceded. The challenge on Taylor was indeed dreadful and I hope the lad is okay.
-
The linesman at the game I watched today flagged for offside from a throw-in and a goal kick
-
I was stood behind the goal and Tom Peers was looking for the foul. He waited for the slightest of contact and when down.
Played really well when Poole and Harrison were on and then created very little and looked shaky at the back when they went off injured. As has been mentioned in an earlier post we need (and have needed since pre season) an energetic box to box midfielder and a half decent goalkeeper. Moult and Taylor / Sheridan simply don't have the engine for the midfield job.
-
What the freekick given for for their first!
-
Without James Poole we look clueless.
-
We didn't concede 3 because Poole came off.
We conceded 3 because Jones and Thompson were sh*te

Well said. We let a three goal lead slip today against a team two leagues below us. At three nil up we should have put our foot down and got out of sight, but even without doing that we should if at least kept them out of the game.
Still, we didn't lose and we don't have to play Lancaster

I agree that Thompson is sh*t but is Deasy any better?

Well said? How would you know if Jones and Thompson were sh*t??

I don't think Thompson or Jones are sh*te, but they were today

I don't think they were any worse than Peers and Taylor whose contributions were negligible.
We conceded because, just like in almost all the matches, we stopped playing football after 30 minutes. We let them into the game and allowed them into positions where our fragile defence was able to demonstrate its season-long inadequacies.
Oh, and with regards to the thread title, the ref was ok. He couldn't give the Peers penalty because it wasn't one. Peers was looking to fall over as soon as he was tackled, and he did. It was clearly a pathetic effort to con the ref.

It was totally in keeping with the rest of Peers' performance. He was a waste of space today.

They are kicking the sh*t out of are players jeez what a pub league it is

Exactly. As unacceptable as last night was, let's remember that these are the same lads that shut out Witton fairly comfortably. I'm willing to say it was a bad day at the office provided it gets put right on Tuesday night.
EDIT: Last night? Obviously meant yesterday.
-
will he be the ref on Tuesday or will it be someone else and could he be worse to much to expect him to be better at this level

Normally the same ref
-
On the subject of refs, apparently Oldham manager John Sheridan, and many Oldham fans, were going ballistic on a radio phone in last night about the official in charge of yesterday's home defeat by Charlton.
Our old "friend" Ross Joyce.

Just to clarify i dont think the ref affected the result.
I do think he gave a green light to clattering challenges culminating in a shocking challenge on lawrence...
