Title: Thoughts on Gateshead....
Post by: Knutsford Alty on September 28, 2009, 01:32:04 PM
Currently 19th in the league, looking at the table they look a bit leaky at the back but sounds like they gave Oxford United a game last Saturday.

Tricky one but Im going for a well-earned one nil win.  Not many goals in it but a win just the same.

COME ON ALTY

gateshead go heads down after we score three early goals, talk on the terraces of a potential record score, foot off the gas in the second half leaves the final score 3-0.  The fans leave feeling slightly disappointed despite the good win.

1-1 draw and the lowest crowd for years. Or to be more optimistic a 5-0 win with a 2000+ attendance.

I will stick my neck out and go somewhere in between.

Has anybody been to their ground? Isnt it a bit weird to play in a half-empty 11,000 eater stadium - what was the atmosphere like?

I went a few years back and we won 1 - 0 with Ricky Harris scoring if i remember rightly.

I'm sure they only had 1 stand open back then and its probably changed a lot since. Our fans created a good atmosphere due to the result!!

Went there in our Unibond championship season, Bomber Harris scored and ran over the running track to celebrate. Very wierd with only one stand open and they had their keeper sent off early on, we were poor but won  ;D

That'd be a very good effort for a Tuesday.

Considering their small home attendances, and the fact they're so bloody far from everywhere, their away followings haven't been bad. Mainly in the 30s and 40s I think.

Gateshead will bring what we'd take there on a Tuesday night - about 30 or 40.

Alty 5 Gateshead 0  - Att 798...

Annoyance by some that we have not won by more.

Don't forget annoyance due to the crowd being less than 1500.

Aaron Burns opens his Moss Lane account in the first 10 minutes, but 590 of the 615 hardy souls inside the ground are stunned when Gateshead equalise right on half time with their first shot on target.

Relentless second half pressure yields nothing, but just as it seems two points have been squandered, we score a 92nd. minute winner when Gateshead's keeper punches the ball into his own net from our 17th. corner of the match.

GH is quoted as saying this was something we'd practised in training since he'd had grave doubts as to the ability of any of our own players to score at a corner. On the way home he is struck dead by a thunderbolt.

Kenny Mac takes charge of team affairs, and our 6-0 win at Rushden starts an unbeaten run of 30 matches, ensuring our Football League place for 2010-11.

Labour win the next election, Oasis kiss and make up, and Arsene Wenger is spotted in Specsavers.

My mother told me I should lay off the cheese at supper time..........we'll win this game though !

1-0 to Alty. Denham to score a stunning goal, but it will be tough against a determined Gateshead.
