Forgive me if im being thick but...

Why do they always run the same half on the same side ? Im sure its not always been like that....

Edit : I know in the SAME game they don't - for equality to both teams etc..

Do you mean why do they always run on the same bit of touchline or why do they not swap sides?

Edit : I know in the SAME game they don't - for equality to both teams etc..

 
a couple off years ago it was brought in by uefa that from a set standard they had to run the same line to be up to uefa standards - another daft rule that us groundsman hate and causes hassle !

This is apparently to allow for standardisation so that if you go to say the World Cup you can have officials from anywhere in the world working together with no problems
