After looking on Through The Years on the JL site, I see it's 51 years on Saturday since Swindellsworth and myself got a puncture on our way to Netherfield! 🤯

Feeling my age a bit - how about you? 😂😂
Didn't cars have solid tyres then?

I think that the Alty v Oldham game has as much chance as any of the others of beIng shown.  It will be cast as 'former Top Flight Premier Leaguers meet former prolific record Giant-Killers'... no wait on... what Is this?... EuroSmakufussball.com have obtained broadcasting rights to the game.  EuroSmaku cater exclusively for the population of Tuvalu and have announced that the game will now kick off at 02:30am on Monday 23rd 2023.
That's the last thing I expected.

What's the longest journey we could make with an away draw? That's who we'll draw. Just getting a negative vibe about it somehow.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Moss Lane Or New Ground
« on: September 03, 2023, 11:17:50 PM »
I think the demographic on this forum which tends towards older more long-standing supporters probably skews the results a bit. Wonder what the growing younger elements of our Fanbase would say. IMO Moss Lane sadly looks increasingly out of place in the National League of today & I don’t just mean against the big ex EFL outfits. Think of similar sized clubs in the division to us-Halifax, Kiddy etc.

Much as staying at Moss Lane would be great I think all four sides of the ground need fairly substantial modernisation & doubtless long running & tedious planning permission debates with Trafford & local residents (think of all the trouble we’ve had just doing the fanzone). So, if another relatively central-ish site could be found it may be from a financial & logistical POV that makes more sense. We have the lessons of history re Northwich & Runcorn & moving to the wrong location or somewhere completely soulless but think the challenges of doing up Moss Lane to a fully modern set up can’t be ignored.
I'm dead against moving to South London.😁

OK, I'm going to be barmy now! This is part joke, part serious.

Can we swop sites with Altrincham Leisure Centre, They have ours and we have theirs. That way we occupy part of Pollitt's Field, a historical connection. They redevelop the old Moss Lane Ground to a brand new leisure centre. We are then next to the Ice Rink, another Sports Centre, but with superb transport connections. Like Newcastle we are then a Town Centre Club. Short walk from the Town Centre too, and dead, dead easy to get to.

OK, I'll get my coat!!
That's exactly what the ongoing work is Steve. Altys new ground under wraps. It's top secret though. Keep it to yourself.

Me neither. I think some people stay away because the ground is what it is. Progress is being made but it's still light years away from a lot of the ex league grounds that we visit.

Build the ground and they will come.
I've never thought of this line of thought before and not sure how much water it holds. If it's true I'm well out of step with my concept of being an Alty fan. My latest visit to York City left me empty and pretty sure I'd hate it if we followed suit. Perhaps it's an age thing, I don't know. I'll accept I've more years behind me watching football that in front and I could be suffering from a severe dose of nostalgia. If I'm in a minority I'd accept a democratic decision and go with the flow.

Never beaten Bromley at JDS apperently. Well it's about time.
By all means give them respect but show them no mercy. Alty 3-1.
Clean sheet is too far fetched.

As an aside, my friend from church did express an interest in doing match day food (his Dutch cafe can be found on Goose Green) but nothing came of it. I got the impression that there were plans to rotate a food pod between various different people, so I would be interested to know if this is for the long term. The menu sounds pretty good (though personally I'm not a fan of soya).

Thanks Hugh - I know Sjord and we have spoken about opportunities.

The Beyond meat range is principaly made from Pea protein, from their promotional material "Our Beyond Burger is made of quality ingredients—like peas and brown rice—and a simple process to turn them into great-tasting meat. Like all of our products, the Beyond Burger is made with no GMOs, soy or gluten".

Did you say that peas and brown rice can be turned into great tasting meat?  I’ve nothing against non meat eaters but what you state is paramount to turning water into wine..  Interesting…
Imagine the queue in the fanzone where they turn water into wine! 😂😂😂

Keep 20th April free so you can be at Moss Lane where Alty will be parading the NL Trophy.
I'd just love to highlight this post on April 20th when we finish top. 😁

They had the best of a rather un-in-spire-ing first half but they were only marginally better than us.  I was disappointed when they scored but began to see that we were likely to get a result as we began to improve more and more towards the last 10-15 minutes.  Their 'dirty' tactics got them nowhere because the Referee soon found the measure of them and their cynical felling of our players virtually every time that we got the better of them (and that was a lot of times).

I was happy with the Ref's overall performance on balance even though I think that he missed a blatant hand ball in the penalty area early in the 2nd half. I guess that he must not of had a clear view of it.

The second half and injury time was pure class from Alty and they were given a lesson on how to play.  I had to pinch myself to ensure that I was not dreaming and I knew by the time the equalising goal went in that we would win.

You could count the number of real chances they had in the 2nd half on one finger and Alty just got better and better.  If Alty had won 7-1 it would not have been an unfair result.

For me they could all have been 'Man of the Match' today, but if I was to pick only one of them I would go for Justin HAMMERS_THE_ LOSERS and he did just that.  He embarrassed the best they had over and over, time and time, again and he is a hero there in the making.

I just love this Alty team and they have the potential to take the National League title + A couple of decent FA cup scalps and, of course, not to forget the FA Trophy.  The least I can see this group of players achieving this season is a High Play-off position (Semi- Finals) + 3rd Round FAC + FA Trophy Final at Wembley.

I AM SO EXCITED.  This team has the look of a successful one and I think will even eclipse our successes of the late 70s, early 80s.

We really battered Chesterfield today and the whole of Chesterfield knows it.  Their players know it.  Their manager knows it, Their supporters know it and none of them will be wanting to watch the highlights which I can hardly wait for.

I could go on but I am sure you get the idea.  They won't be making any excuses about 'playing badly today' because they didn't play badly at all and I thought at half time that they looked like the best we have seen so far this season.

If they are really the favourites to win the National League we are going to walk it.  Get your money on quick the odds will be tumbling soon.

As Brian would say 'Come on you Supers!'

P.S. Can anyone offer me a lift to AFC Fylde on Monday?  I will pay for your ticket + half petrol.  i promise to keep quiet.

Wonderful post. Cup fully full. You're welcome to sit next to me on the tram and train. Feel free to speak.😁😁😁

Really worried when I expect us to win! Past and current form would suggest an away win
 What could possibly go wrong?

That's what might be termed the voice of experience! 😉
