Fair enough if Jordon was injured in the warm up then I understand the reason he didn’t come on.

I’m a little puzzled by this assertion as I was in the ground at approx 18.53. At that point only TT and Steven Drench were out on the pitch. At 18.55 the team was announced on twitter, with JH on the bench.
The rest of the team came out for the warm up about 19.00 and JH was taking an active role in it.

Unless there was a pre warm-up warm-up, I fail to see how an apparent injury after 19.00 caused him to be a substitute before 18.55.

Barton is known for doing some stupid things, but that is character, not intelligence.
Er......I think you might want to Google the definition of “stupid” and revisit that statement. The lack of intelligence figures greatly in the many sources of the definition, as it does in Barton’s antics.

Perhaps PP will finally realise it’s the defence that needs improving.

Not at the match but on the special train back from White Hart Lane in January 1979. There was no heating and it was such a slow journey back.

Brrrrr.....

Can we please stop using the practice nets at the side of the real nets before the match starts?

Marcus Dinanga thinks they’re the real ones and is still aiming for them once the match starts.

....... all areas open but no moving between areas during the game.
Because many of the regulars on the Popular Side will need to empty their pee bottles and possibly visit Dawn’s chuckwagon during the match, the “Taking The Knee” will be followed at approximately 15.23 by “Taking The P*ss”.

At this time the referee will blow his whistle to allow the participants the opportunity to cross the pitch to the toilets/Dawn’s cabin. Two minutes later he will again blow the whistle so they can regain their standing positions on the Pop Side. Anyone unable to finish their dribbling will be able to dribble across the pitch upon their return.

Note that passage through the Golf Road end will not be allowed and the Hitler Youth will be in evidence in their yellow vests to ensure compliance. Also note that anyone caught stationary in the walkways or, heaven forbid, resting on the perimeter fence, will be escorted from the ground by the Brown Shirts.

After the match, anyone on the Pop Side will have to leave the ground via the exit gates at the bottom of Golf Road (the gate known as The Fanz’ One) and they will be escorted across the golf links and told to find their way home to Bancroft Road.

The club hopes these arrangements meet the needs of all supporters, especially those at Trafford Borough Council.

Hmm....I wonder if the ground got struck by a massive asteroid, could we get a grant to rebuild it ?
Probably not, but at least Cult might be able to see the corner flag from his seat again 🤣

I believe their manager is Alan Devonshire. What a top player in his day and that's from a Spurs fan!! SBL

A very decent player who was rejected by Crystal Palace because of his short stature. He was driving a forklift at the Hoover factory and playing part time in the Isthmian League for Southall when West Ham paid a measly £5K for him. Despite injuries blighting his career, he won 8 England caps and an FA Cup winner's medal, finishing his career at Watford. There aren't many (any ?) at this level to match that level of achievement.

I bet that job sucked!
He was too small to be a sweeper 😉

I particularly like the way they point out where the cash machines are, ask for exact money, then mention admission prices of £21.00, £18.00 etc. I can only assume there must be special cash machines in Halifax which dispense pound coins.
In addition to concessions being £18, it’s £9 for 17-12 year olds, and £4 for under 12s - all prices needing change from a note. And we’re being herded through one turnstile. Should be fun.

Superb win today, well done to all the lads. Glad to see the supporters getting this reward for undertaking such a long distance journey. Congratulations to the club and thanks to Radio Robins.
Ditto

Ashton United appear to have fielded Max the doorman/bouncer from Phoenix Nights as their goalkeeper:

I’m more concerned about the “ring a ring o’roses”

According to the NLP, Neil Sorvel said “Lads have got to quit jobs........and a number of them are of an age where they aren’t going to do that...we’d have ended up with a half and half split, which isn’t ideal”

Am I missing something here? I thought that would be a typical hybrid model we would be working towards in the first year.

If that’s a stumbling block shouldn’t the players have been consulted before all this was announced? Very cavalier and very poor show from the management and/or board.

Very sad to read of yet another Alty fan leaving us..
I also used to enjoy reading the posts of John (VoD) and like many others I didn’t always agree with his views but, the Forum exists so that people can “Have Their Say”. I will miss him…
One final thing…
Cult.. That was a superb piece you did on a very close friend of yours… your literary skills are second to none and although the theme of the piece you penned on John was very sad, it was an easy read, and summed up his character.

RIP John (VoD) Canning Condolences to your family & friends..
Ray and Jan
I would have liked to have said this but distancetraveller has said it so well. Well-written Barry, RIP VofD.

... the game was then restaged at Alty on Wed afternoon of Nov 20th (think no floodlights back then) & ended 0-0...
And there was no cover on the Golf Road end as I remember standing on my bike’s crossbar trying to peer over the concrete wall at that end. I’d cycled down Acacia Avenue from Alty Grammar to try and catch the end of the match.

Wasn’t that veteran broadcaster Cliff Mitchelmore perched very precariously on top of the original main stand trying to broadcast the fog-hit tie?
