Deary me! Before my haircut, celebrating like an idiot. Is my nose really that big?

Anyway, when is the back of the pop side going to reopen?

Bracknell playing Tiverton Town Tuesday night… I’m guessing that’s Phil & Neil’s night out sorted!
Yep, they said yesterday, well Phil did, he and Neil are going to watch Bracknell as we have little intel on them.

Hmm, the time at Italia 90 when Gary Lineker put all his penalties in the same corner in training knowing someone from Cameroon was watching springs to mind. I wonder if Bracknell might possibly try and keep something back from us...

Does that mean that tickets don't need to be purchased in advance after all then? It would be good to know for certain for any supporters who may not be able to book in advance  so we can get as many people down there as possible.

Very sad news for all Altrincham  supporters, and for me he ranks alongside the likes of Swindells as a true Alty great.

Worth remembering that, whatever setbacks wev may sometimes face as a club, they absolutely pale into insignificance compared to the situation we faced in the Spring of 1995, when, if it hadn't been for King's intervention the club may very well have closed down, and he made a last-ditch effort to persuade John Maunders not to close the club. I will always be grateful for his actions then, which for me remain the defining event of the time since I started following Altrincham in 1990.

He was always one for quips, and back when the first Rocky Robin mascot arrived in the 90s (with which I had some involvement), upon the opening of the package in which it arrived, he insisted to us all that it was a chicken!

I might add that he was also the toughest opponent I ever faced when we were on opposite sides in a staff v. supporters game, some considerable time after he had retired. He may well be the toughest opponent that a lot of semi-pro (and even professional) players faced too.

Whilst I mourn the loss, I will always treasure the memories. May he rest in peace.

Been bugging me for a while, but when did we last sing the old version of "Come On Alty" (repeat a few times and stop)? Was there a period when we were still using both versions? Why did we completely drop the old one?

Who'd have thought? Altrincham have a £300,000 plater as well as Wrexham!

Interesting on Wrexham AFC News.

Who calls Sheffield United "Sheffield" (apart from me)? And then there's Al-trin-cham! Anyway, looks to be a first team player they signed from Charlton, as I suspected. A different planet really, and if we do much better than "0-6", we're not doing so bad, considering. But don't worry, it'll be an "exciting match"!

I’ll settle for a Chesterfield type performance, backs against the walls and defend like trojans.

I’d also enjoy an Alty win just to shut some moaners up on here! The amount of desperate, worried people that feel we are going to implode and grow two left feet… Probably the same people that couldn’t stop moaning after a few matches.

Like many have said before me… stop moaning, get behind your team and make some noise!

As a great man one said, get your talking done early.

Ill be stood singing (one of the few that still do) for. 90 minutes, because id rather be wrong and win. However, this season,  has felt bleak during the first 10, and bleak during the middle 15 when we won most weaks.

I'll even give up going on the pop side when we're shooting towards the Chequers End to join you if you're really up for singing for 90 minutes! I wouldn't be able to get very far along the pop side anyway.

Altrincham FC First Team / I still say we were right to go full time

Yes, the loss of seven players made this season difficult, and we have had to rely on loan players, but we remain in a good league position, and we are in a position to make further progress next season if these players are enough to keep us up - and I see no reason why they shouldn't be. I remember a trophy (or cup?) match at Tamworth, and they had a really fast winger on loan from Millwall who ran us ragged and was too much for Gary Scott (or whoever it was), and inevitably eventually set up a goal to knock us out, and I thought, why can't we get players like that? Well now we have with the likes of CCC, and hopefully the new loan players can do similar. Take the positives and don't panic. The board have clearly done their best to keep Toby and Ryan, and no doubt have done their best to get good replacements. Negativity is not going to help us (though obviously people will want to ask questions - board members are available at most games if anyone really wants to know the reasoning). Let's continue support the team and thus give us the best chance of getting something positive from the season. That's what I'll be doing on Saturday anyway.

If they weren't favourites, they wouldn't attract interest. Smith and James Jones have gone to league clubs, plus Mooney and Johnstone to non-league clubs who could offer them a good deal. We survived losing these and we are well placed to survive this. To borrow a phrase (and I understand some may think this is a great time to do otherwise), don't panic!

Baines, Barrows, Byrne, Cooper, Dinanga, Gould, Hulme, Edward Jones, James Jones, Egli Kaja, Kosylo, Lundstram, Marriott, Osborne, Pringle, Goodson, and some of the youth lads.

Yes, we lost 2 (two)  contracted players. We have also signed five (?) loan players, one or two of whom, if past history is anything to go by, could end up signing permanently at some point, and should be  enough to keep us up, which many of us would have settled for a few months back. Tonight at least, when we stand on the cusp of another Cheshire Senior cup final, I insist on taking the positives. Next season will be better, and so far at least (13th in NL, CSC s/f, FAT last 16), this season aint half bad. Let's see what happens next, and what would I give for a repeat of the spirited performance we gave in front of the cameras at home to Solihull Moors in difficult circumstances last season? Obviously I'd have liked some of these players to stay, but there's no changing it now. Let's get behind our lads on Saturday, and the manager who has taken us this far.

For the record, the goal scorers were Pringle (2 - sort of) and Eddie Jones.

Osborne did a few ok passes but missed his penalty (the first one)

Can I take any positives?

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: How many will Wrexham bring?
« on: January 31, 2023, 06:28:32 PM »
On their day, Wrexham are a class apart from any other team in this league and so I think the best we can hope for is not to ship 4 or 5 without reply.  That said, Wrexham will be tired from their dealings in the FA Cup, so we should not write ourselves out of it yet.  On the subject of gaining maximum revenue from the away section, I think the Club will be mindful that not giving sufficient space to those that are travelling will increase the likelihood of them ending up in the home section.  While I can see why you wouldn't  want to give them any advantage, I think the opportunity to increase the coffers when funds are sorely needed, has to be taken.
are we struggling for money ? After all the recent money raised and sale of Coco and probably Toby I would have thought we were in a very healthy position for money .
we're alright to be fair, but an awful lot of money will need to be spent on the ground to bring it up to the standard we want
