Let's talk about previous jobs then cos that's really relevant

Previous jobs are not irrelevant.

Young failed at Stockport, was given the job here and failed (even more woefully than before) again.

Neil Tolson was given the job last year after a poor managerial record at Conf North level and he failed again (he shouldn't have been given the job anyway, he was a poor managerial choice).

That's just two appointments at our club in the past 6 months. The list from elsewhere goes on and on.

Let's sign a manager with a proven track record in this division or is used to a relegation scrap, knows the need for grit and bollocks and has some form of tactical know-how.

And Bradford PA Thankyou Blindbat people should think before they reply also should've gone up quicker than 3 seasons lucky to have the chance.

Yeah I agree with you on Young because we could all see what we were in for if he'd stayed any longer but the signs of improvement were there with Sinnott in his first year.

You have to be realistic at this level I think, there are going to be maybe 1 or 2 managers across most of non league that will work miracles and get teams promoted at the first time of asking. The rest will either take time to build something capable of promotion or fail. Instances of  managers being majorly successful without financial clout are very rare and the ones that do achieve that like Cowley at Braintree last season perhaps, are snapped up straight away. (this is probably why Young didn't have a long list of offers after leaving Chester)

That's is simply due to the fact that we are in the 6th tier of English football so the best managers will move up. That leaves Alty to with 2 options:

Sign a known manager that can build a team but needs time or to sign a manager from 2 leagues below that is working miracles somewhere and give him a chance.

Either way this is not the premier league and we do not have the luxury to be able to demand instant wins, great performances and titles straight away. What you would expect however is a few wins, some good performances and indications that the squad is going in the right direction. Obviously these expectations are adjusted by what league this club is in but as long as those signs are there then we as supporters should offer whoever is in charge some time to actually have the chance to be successful before he's turned on.

an intelligent post

And very accurate

The biggest worry is that while neil should have been building his foundations he has ripped the team to peices

A lot of damage done in a short time

Big challenge for who comes in

The two big cheeses neck a neck, assume one of them will get the Guiseley job.

Why are these the big cheeses?
Are they bigger cheeses (in football) than say, Deano Maunders or Mark Robins, for instance?
What is the definition of a big cheese from your list?
