Well, you are certainly correct in your statement that Gary Hulmes made his Alty debut at Worcester City.

It was the Alliance Premier League Cup Semi-Final First Leg on Monday, 9th February 1981.

However, the scorer of Alty's goal in the 1-0 victory was John Rogers.

Gary Hulmes appeared on the Alty team sheet on a total of eight occasions.....but never scored a goal for the club.

I remember the excitement with which the Altrincham Guardian greeted his arrival. No doubt the article was accompanied by the photo of Graham Heathcote they used almost every week. I also remember him being utterly useless. No offence.

All who were there will remeber his long range dipper that hit the bar and the contribution to the game, what unfulfilled potential.
