Please check your times carefully for the weekend Altrincham play Pompey.
There is train chaos (referred to "Planned Improvement Works" by the rail industry) that weekend.
Highlights south of London include-
Waterloo to Portsmouth Direct Line Closed with a bus between Guildford and Petersfield.
Coastway Line (to London Victoria, Gatwick and Brighton) Closed between Havant and Barnham with a bus replacement.
There will still be direct trains from London Waterloo via Eastleigh but at a reduced frequency and much slower.

cheers Paul,i am coming up from Exeter via Salisbury and as far as i can see, that route is OK.
-
Looks like I'll be driving, then! Can't be bothered with disrupted rail services for the sake of having a couple of pints.

Looks like I'm stranded at waterloo god dam it

Not really, the journey is just a bit more of a faff, I'd recommend the through route via Eastleigh than the bus if your timings suit. Otherwise Guildford to Petersfield via the A3 is about 25 miles but the bus might call at Godalming and Farncombe. The A3 is a fast trunk road though.

Yep. Most coming from London will either be on the 0945 or 1045 from Waterloo to Fratton, a shade over 90 mins. I mean we’ve only had 4 away ties to get here so plenty of experience of the rail network in the Cup this season!

Any pub nearish to the ground earmarked for away fans?
I notice there's a good few pubs not far away.
-
looking at trains and prices from town, it seems to be approx £150 and 5 hours is anyone else seeing better prices?

Cheers bud, i can see the saving up to 6hrs though.

We’ve paid 89 via train split. Will be on the 845 from Waterloo to Pompey if all runs to plan arriving at 10:30. Quick glance at the HMS Prince of Wales if it’s still in port the a suitable pub is my hope
