Didn't know him personally, but he'd always give a smile and let on to you. Seemed a really nice bloke, and despite his frailty in recent months you knew he'd be at the ground. Clearly a legend of a guy.

Condolences to friends and family.

Condolensces to his family and friends.

A gentleman I only knew at a distance, but it looks like he will be very fondly remembered.

I recognised Normans photo form the main site.

Being an Alty fan has many advantages, one of those being that you are part of a small group that has a bond.  A loss of any person is a loss to their family first and foremost.  Losing fans would be a tiny blip to a MUFC, Aresnal or Chelsea, but to clubs our size we know the faces...it makes a difference surely.

I've just seen the announcement of Norman's death in the Messenger. As usual, the funeral arrangements are included. There are no flowers, by request, instead people may, should they wish, make donations to Altrincham FC. A proper Alty fan, as this goes to prove

Regarding the above post, if anyone wishes to make a donation in Norman's memory and cannot get down to the club you can always send a paypal donation via the usual link:

Sorry folk, to clarify, The request is for any donations to be sent via the Funeral Directors, Gresty's at Manchester Road, Timperley. I know it may not matter to some which route donations take but, I recall how important it was to us to know how much had been donated to Wythenshawe Hospital in memory of my Mum

What a character & above all else a true English Gentleman. Norman used to attend all the meetings held by S.A.F.E. (THE FIRST EDITION). For many years afterwards he kept asking me if I was still counting the pennies for the club. Looking back over the last year, Moss Lane has lost too many characters & great fans. God Bless Norman & all the others who have passed away.

Mister Heslop makes a pertinent point here when he comments on the loss of a some true characters at Moss Lane in recent times.

I do feel that we are losing the opportunity to compile an oral history of Alty supporters' memories when I read that the likes of Norman Brown are no longer with us, as characters like him must have had a wealth of Alty related stories and memories to share.

Perhaps Flynny could launch a series of interviews and record some of these anecdotes for posterity?

this would be read of the year! if we could do a through the years through the eyes of fans i'm sure it would sell a fortune some fans have some real tales to tell. we all know the fans game at weymouth etc. but an alternative view of matches funny tales and the such like would be a brilliant read!

This gesture just shows that some people literally do bleed the red and white of Altrincham.

It would be amazing for people like Norman, Skipper and all the other great fans/people of this club who have sadly passed away recently if we could live the dream of another FA Trophy victory or as Densmore put in in tonights MEN 'a promotion push' and Football League.
