Unfortunately his signing confirmed to me the fears about Young being given the manager's job. He was unknown to the Southport fans on the Conference forum and surely the fact that he'd spent most of last season on loan at Stalybridge was enough to tell us he wasn't up to the standard we required.

My son-in-law's mate, who played for Young at Chester, also mentioned that Young is one of those Scousers who doesn't like ot "get" Mancs. I beginning to wonder if he did all this, and likewise at Stockport, on purpose!

Their latest description of his performance on Saturday at Aldershot was "excellent". He will be a brilliant signing for any team in our league, let's just hope it's us!

I suspect a large chunk of that figure would need to spent on paying up contracts of some of the dross we currently have on the books. Consequently there won't be an awful lot left to bring in new players.

There I'll join you!

I did think Jim Harvey was a good appointment at the time but as has been said, he's made us an even poorer team. The alarm bells were sounding for me when he just signed his ex-Stalybridge players but the loan signing this week seems to be scraping the barrel.

I assume after we get thrashed by Lincoln and Salford he will have no choice but to walk.

I know he's going to be a better bet than either Cyrus or Hall but it is a bit worrying that JH can't come up with someone a bit younger but then I suppose desperate times call for desperate moves!

We could put a 7 days notice in for Clee  ;)

Don't think we need to as, by the sounds of it, he'll be a free agent by next weekend.

Considering how poorly we've played at home for all of this year, I think the players get away pretty lightly and as fans we've generally been a reasonably tolerant lot.

As for Saturday, as Glyn says we've got no new players in so there certainly aren't any on the books that can improve things. Probably scrap the 5-3-2 we played the other night, as there's no way you can have two in midfield when James Lawrie is one of them. Maybe Richman back in for someone....Moult a strong contender.

Heart hopes for a 2-1 win but my head is telling me it will probably be 3 or 4-1 to them!

Quote from the Guiseley forum regarding Tuesday night's game against Gateshead....."thought Nicky Clee had a really good game". It does look as if Nicky has overcome last season's injury.

Add to that a central midfielder

Make that two and a centre forward plus a left winger (oh I know where there's one of those!).

I have voted no, and it pained me to do so. The appointment of Young was an appalling of error of judgment the consequences of which may be felt for five or six years to come.  It is for that reason alone I now feel some sword falling should take place.

As many people know, I was critical about the appointment of Young from the outset and predicted what would happen to the playing squad. This knowledge I gained from the Chester and Stockport forums so it was obvious it would happen here, as that was how the loser worked. Surely the Board should have been aware of this and never gone near him with a barge pole. Consequently the buck stops with them for this decision (along with the Tolson one).

Clee's contract at Guiseley finishes on 5th November, so he's a free agent in like 10 days.

Snooze you lose, so the powers that be best get their fingers out if they want him.

bit of an odd contract that ?

3 months from the start of the season, maybe not that odd considering Nicky's injury problems last season. Oh and don't forget which manager signed him for Guiseley!

He's 33 now and although he was good for us I don't think his body is any longer robust enough to play week in week out as we would need him to in our present situation. There must be other Nicky Clee type players out there, id like to think JH will find him.

Unless they played in the 2011 Stalybridge team, JH is having trouble finding anyone. I don't suppose he stands any chance of getting Connor Jennings or that Arthur fella from Worcester down to Moss Lane does he?

We need Nicky back at this club more than anything we've ever needed before and I'm sure the Board know what it takes.

Definitely agree and while we're getting Nicky back let's ask County for a couple of players. Glen Rule is sat on his backside most weekends and I'm sure would provide us with much needed creativity in mid-field. It will be in their interests to loan us players as we will be able to take points off teams at their end of the table!

Fair play to the Board for obviously doing as I asked in my posting last night and releasing some funds to get him off the payroll. Maybe just another half a dozen or so to go!

When I first saw Lynch in the pre-season games, I described him as Simon Richman with a left foot. He'd run all day and tackle people but hadn't got a clue what to do with the ball at his feet. Thinking back a couple of seasons or so, Richman was almost irreplaceable but then it was with good players around him who could receive and pass the wall, thereby making Richman look a good player. Maybe the same is happening with Lynch at Halifax?
