Title: A Small Issue
Post by: RageAgainstTheFirstTeam on August 03, 2011, 11:25:17 AM
Last night when I went to the snack bar I was shocked to find that cans of coke were a pound each. I don't know who does the prices in there, most are fine (pies £2, although I am assuming other things have been increased? How much are crisps, chocolate bars etc?) and I know there's been a VAT increase but this seems like the sort of pricing you would find in a premier league ground. I really don't see it as necessary to charge that much and it will put people off buying. I take my younger cousin along sometimes and often buy him cans etc from the snack bar but I won't be doing so at those prices.

I'm not having a pop at those who run the snack bar as you do a very good and I appreciate it but I hope someone has a look at the prices and realize that they\re not appropriate.

I noticed that too last night.

I expect to pay a bit of a premium at a football ground but would expect to pay 60p in a shop and maybe 80p in a snack bar.

Psychologically a £1 sounds a lot more than 80 or 90p.

£1 for a can - OUCH.

I've also noticed that gravy is an extra 70p (ish) which is extortionate.

Just for the record the RRP of coke cans is 82p

I also think a £1 a can is ridiculous. I paid it last night but not in the future.

We should start calling the gravy 'jus' instead and then we could charge twice as much for it.

50p at my local corner shop. 60p at most places. Quid for a small bottle.

That price will definitely put people off.

Two steak and pygmy pies and chips for you and only a bar of choccy for Tother half ?   ???

You greedy b******d

You should have waited until half way through the second half and have been stood with the Flaggers

He was flogging off 'Pies for a Pound' and did a roaring trade

Mind you we did get free sarnies and a piece of pork pie at Trafford the previous week

Now you have mentioned this, I too did notice the rather hefty price tag for a can of coke.

80p is my cut off point. After that i just drink the lavender handwash from the soap dispenser.

Good job you don't go to Manchester united reserves games the prices change completely.

£1.30 for a cuppa last night too - I'll have to get the flask back in action for the winter games.

I try and buy at Stamford Park News over the road before the game - I started doing that after they sponsored the stewards last season - figured that way I was still supporting the club indirectly.

If they dont sponsor again this season I might have to rethink my strategy!

I have a few friends who come along occasionally and most were there for the City game. One is a United fan and called me a hypocrite for criticising Old Trafford refreshment prices.

I must admit that whenever I've criticised Twissy, a quick glance in the mirror generates the though "pot....kettle....black" (but then I am nearly twice his age and not in training).

The second "t" gives it added weight (I'll get me coat !)......but technically with only one it would be pronounced "fay-tism". Every forum needs a resident pedant, and I'm afraid on this one it's probably me. I do at least try not to be boring though (but my karma suggests I may not always succeed).
