3pm kickoff
-
Told you. ;) ;)
-
I'm really not happy about this, because I now won't be able to go.
Evidently there is only one company in that part of the country that can steward at football matches. I'm sorry, but it's a completely bollocks reason for a game to have to be moved.
-
I can see why they do it from a business point of view but I am surprised the football league allow or accomodate it.
Doesn't matter much to me but I'm annoyed that it might mean others miss out.

Visionary stuff from the former Hamilton Academical FC ballboy!

But then again, others might benefit from the change.

I reckon there will be more people who miss out than those who benefit from it.

Sunday is ok for me, just glad it aint Friday.
-
Anything but Friday! They play again on Tuesday in the league so may rest a couple depending on how they prioritise and how seriously they take 'little non league Altrincham'
-
Playing on Sunday is a weird one. It will benefit some more than others and people will always use the argument that it will be more of a hindrance than a help.
Personally playing on the Sunday means I can get to the game and also means I don't have to lose out on a days work on the Saturday.
I know it's a slightly different situation but we got a big boost in our crowd when we played Oxford Utd at home on a Sunday a few years back.
I do agree however that it's a disgrace that a league club can't sort out their own stewarding arrangements. I would say it surprises me that the FA allow it, however nothing surprises me with the FA anymore.
-
An extra days rest for the players from the weeks work as a painter, gardener, builder whatever.
-
Depending on time of draw we may well be in hat for next round !
-
Now I have slept on it and considered what it could have been, I have warmed to it a bit.
I think they will underestimate us, stick two in reevsie as our only threat and the others will have space to create.
-
I feel sorry for those who now can't make it, and its crazy that a football league club has to switch fixture dates as they don't have their own stewards.
But, it gives us an extra day to recover after playing Guiseley; Burton have a trip to Plymouth two days later, and there will be some Alty fans who might now be able to come.
Not perfect but it could have been the Friday...
-
Will this also mean that we may miss out on the TV highlight money 7K I think?

if thats true i will be fuming
-
The highlight money might be if its an actual outside broadcast with a commentator, rather than a clip of the goals.

And there was never a chance of there being a broadcaster with a commentator, so we've not lost anything.

happy now again :)

My plans looked to have been screwed up as trains from here to Burton on Sunday take nearly 5 hours each way (IF they are not disrupted by engineering works). Plus my kids are back at school on the Monday.
-
I'm being selfish but i now can go , if it had been Saturday i would of been working , so i benefit , because of the change there will be 3 people with me also who would not of been on the Saturday , some you win some you lose
-
Going to take Monday off so treat it as a saturday but still tedious
-
Being a Sunday means I can go, would not have been able to do Saturday or Friday night. Flights booked. God knows what I'm going to do with all my spare time hanging around East Mids, but that's another matter. Far from a glamour tie, but we are in the 1st round proper, almost forgotten what it feels like.
-
If by some means we do cause an upset we won't get the media coverage we would have got. Still take the win though
-
To be honest I dont think Burton v Alty will attract any media, it is a sterile tie as far as the press, cameras and reporters go.
-
We were a great FA Cup side going back half a life time div 3 and 4 teams genuineley feared us, Burton away would be a great time to re build that reputation it is do able they are not playing that great confidence can't be that great ripe for it i'd say

I'm at least expecting a picture of Reevesie holding a trowel in the Evening News on the Friday before it.

Some very negative views of Burton Albion on here aren't there? Is there some past history I've missed?
Anyway, at first I was quite disappointed by the draw after running Sheffield Utd and Macclesfield scenarios through my mind but I've warmed up to it a bit more now. It's going to be a tough one but it could have been a lot worse for me and I'm hoping we've got enough to at least compete with them. There's a little chance to get something out of the game I think but as I've said for our games against Shildon, Leek and Boston, I'd be extremely pleased with a draw.
Will be quite good to go back to the Pirelli too, always quite liked that ground for some reason.

No history, just a disappointing draw. Most fans either want an easy game to progress to the next round or a glamour tie that will give the fans a good day out and earn the club a hefty payday. Burton doesn't fit either category.
-
I like Burtons forum name - Clough the Magic Dragon.
-
The Sunday tie is good for me as as I now may be able to do it whereas a Saturday would be a definite no.
Nontheless its very tinpot when a FL club cannot have a Saturday home game cos Derby are at home on the same day. God knows what they'd do if they played 5 miles from Old Trafford and 10 miles from the Etihad.
Before then we have a number of key league games so lets focus on them but well done to the lads for 3/3 on the road in the FAC...
-
Burton's game at Plymouth in the following week has been moved to the Weds, as both teams are playing Sunday.
The TV bonanza winners are Cambridge City, Braintree and Dorchester.

The winners of the burton v alty. Game should know who they face before the game as I imagine the draw will be after the braintree game which I think is a 12.30 kick off

Pretty much expected.
There will be other matches shown on foreign tv though.
I remember watching Brighton v FC United on a Viasat channel at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon a couple of seasons ago in the 2nd round.
Al Jazeera also show games not shown on UK tv.
So there is still a chance we could be on somewhere.
