Eh up Alty fans,
Shrewsbury fan in peace here just after some advice....
I'm off to see Salop play the "mighty" Macclesfield Town tonight, which frees up my Saturday for a bit more football.... so I've decided to come and watch Alty given the season ticket deal.... Where's the best place in the ground for atmosphere? The opportunities to stand on a terrace in league 2 are getting fewer and fewer each season :(
Cheers in advance

There'll be a few Alty fans in the sold out Shrewsbury end tonight!
-
Once you pay through the home turnstile, you can move around where you want pretty much, a little bit like Gay Meadow. Alty fans still (sort of) change ends at half time. Moss Lane is a great ground, a proper football ground if you like. You will be more than welcome here.
-
even more welcome if you beat the sheep abusers.
-
The bar is open pre-match, half time and post-match................no problem if you are in Shrews colours
-
For those of us who happen to be married to somebody with an allegiance to Shrewsbury Town, there are even more reasons than usual to wish for Macc to suffer a defeat this evening....
-
The section of the covered end terrace nearest the turnstiles or the far end of the covered side are the best for 'atmosphere', depending on which way we're playing. Enjoy the day -and feel free to call in the Club Shop before kick-off or at half-time!
-
Don't forget to visit the club bar as well, ignore the King George pub near the ground.
Hope you enjoy your visit

Would that be to avoid a thorough beating by the spouse should the Shrews lose? ;) ;) ;)
-
You're welcome anyway but if you beat macc tonight you should come tomorrow in a shrews hat, scarf and kit as you will be chaired around the ground like a king.
-
Shrews currently one up! :)

3-1 shewsbury

Not only dropped Macclescum firmly in the soft and pungent, but also knocks Creepy out of the automatic promotion spots. My cup runneth over.
Make the lad welcome ? We should give him a lap of honour !
-
Cheers lads.... particularly those I met on the platform at Macc! See you tomorrow in the supporters bar ;D

So Alty fans pay turnstyle money to swell Macc coffers ;)

Enjoyed my day out in Alty today despite the scoreline. Thought you played some good stuff, but unfortunately, the final 1/3 today at least was poor... the substitute no. 16 had a good cameo, he seemed to have some pace and a couple of tricks up his sleeve. It was great to come to such a friendly club (where you all seem to read this forum!), and be able to move around the terraces to get the best vantage point!
When Shrews fixtures allow, I'll be back for sure. Best of luck for next season.

You should always help the sick and afflicted.

Good to have a chat Jake, always welcome :)
Good result for you last night.
As I said to you, I'm one of the old farts who remember the Macc games.
A lot who post on here doin't.
-
I DO ;D i have watched alty from about 1964 and i remember Macc from the Fiddler days
-
Nice to meet you again today Jake. Great news that you'll be looking out for us when the Shrews aren't playing.
Can I just say that I absolutely loved last night, and it was fantastic that you made yourself known again today.
All the best for the rest of the season, I hope you guys get promoted, and have had a hand in relegating M*cc in the process.
SALOP!

Nice one, my first game was 1965, when the Macc games were a big game.
Bring on those Boxing day games ;D
-
I started watching Alty in 1963. Throughout the 70's Northwich was a bigger needle derby than Macc, though Macc and Wigan were always enemies and games we looked forward to and we usually collected the points. Looks like both are getting relegated and Vics facing extinction just like the Liverchicken which they went to Skem to find ;D

glad you enjoyed your visit and were made to feel welcome.
Interesting perspective from a neutrals point of view that it was the attack that let us down...admittedly we scored from a needless penalty but hyde got two of the buggers and got the 2nd goal through yet another defensive gift....I think the promised smile on our faces from our manager pre season has only come from a gallows humour about our comedy defending.
Please come again and bring some mates next time :)
