Rafo seems to have lost fanfare to the common man is it time for a change any way? How many years has the team run out to fanfare?
Who decides who changes it
1. The manager
2. George
3. Or us the fans
If you could change it what would you like and why?
I like this because of the words
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jbkysd9mQho
Or this after recent years
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jbkysd9mQho
Let the peaking begin
-
Tarzan Boy - Baltimora.
-
I like fanfare, it's classic sounding and sits perfectly with the history and proud past of the club.

Our recent history hasn't been great so maybe time for a change?
-
Stick with ELP fanfare, I can burn a copy onto disc if needed.
-
Another here one for keeping ELP :)
-
Stick with Fanfare, it's tradition.
Bad Rafo for loosing the disk- AGAIN!
-
No way should fanfare be changed. No way.
-
Chumbawumba? ;)
-
I agree...........Fanfare must stay
Can anyone tell me what the tune is that Rafo plays at the end of a game as the players make their way back in.........been meaning to ask for ages and this post now gives me a convenient vehicle to ask such a boring question
-
Fanfare must stay,simple.
-
It must stay or Im taking my season ticket back and asking for a refund.
-
Fanfare or
Stone Roses , Resurrection / This Is The One
-
Stone Roses - This Is The One
do we look like manchester united?
-
Fanfare or
Stone Roses , Resurrection / This Is The One
This is the one gets my vote
-
Got to keep fanfare.
-
and play the rest of it at half time ::)
-
FANFARE - who are we to change tradition.
It MUST be FANFARE
-
speaking as a trditionalist it has to be fanfare and it should be played just before they come out
thats the way it should be that is the end of the matter.
-
Disturbing the priest by Black Sabbath, must be played at full volume.
-
out of intrest how long has fanfare been played?
was it played in the 1970's???
-
fanfare or the proclaimers for me ;D

Whatever else happens, on no account whatsoever must George Heslop be allowed to select the music that Alty run out to.
My concrete evidence for this is simply as follows: when I telephoned Mister Heslop once, he was clearly playing a James Blunt CD in the background....
-
No good reason to change, and ELP's 'fanfare' just works on so many levels. It has to stay!
I've had a few tonight, so will suggest some alternatives anyway...
Joy Division - Interzone 8)
Iggy Pop - Lust For Life 8)
Rage Against The Machine - Renegades of Funk 8)
The Mission Impossible Theme 8)
Probably regret it if any of these get the nod, but seems like good ideas at this moment in time ;)
-

Nah, when I first watched alty in 92 they had this beauty:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf0z38rGnHQ
You may have to fast forward to just before 3mins for the actual bit we used ;)
I think the manager has pick because it changed when Kingy came in (can't remember what he chose), then Fanfare came in late 90's. I may be wrong though. How long as Graham Heathcote been in charge now?
-
Keep fanfare ive got it as my ringtone
-
Fanfare was used in the early 80's when i started watching Alty
-
Fanfare was used in the 70s when I first watched Alty when my Dad took me I am sure of it.
-
Fanfare was definitely used in the late 70's when I first started going to ML.
-
If ELP had to be dropped I'd opt for "Dance of the Knights", Sunderland used to/Still run out to it, and its atmospheric as f**k,especially on a cold midweek night.Really gets the crowd going

Now i'm just waiting for Alan Sugar to start waffling on how about know one is like him because he is unique !
-
So its decided Rafo you better find that bloody disc ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
So it's suggested fanfare is dropped.....another kick in the teeth for the fans....how mich more can we take?
It has to stay......the troops must be assembled.....Gary to paint a bed sheet with "Don't sell our traditions down the river...shame on you"......some of our more militant fans to start a petition and propose a boycott of home matches......when the alternative music is played we should all run onto the centre circle, turn our back on Rafo and the director's box and put earplugs in.
I'd go further.....Rafo has been removing the fanfare by stealth by removing a few bars each time so now we only get "DA_DA_DAAAA" before he butts in with useless info like no smoking and who's in todays line ups and enjoy the match!!!.
The whole fanfare should be played before the opposition are even allowed onto the pitch.

He needs a piece of euipment that costs money about £4-500 if you want it played properley lets raise the money to buy the equipment thats needed. I will pledge £10 because i am a tigh txxt.
-
I will get him another copy. IT CAN'T BE CHANGED !!!!!
-
I got Fanfare on mp3 i can easily put it on a CD if he needs it.
-
For Cheshire Senior Cup ties, I'd like to hear "In a lonely place" by New Order as the teams come out: this would make it the perfect evening for me.
-

Ah yes i remember Eckys explanation last time I asked about the wind up gramophone that takes half an hour to cue and then shorts with the microphone if you try and do anything too fancy...... like talk and play music simultaneously.
I remember just thinking....we're a really mickey Mouse outfit aren't we?
For CSC matches how about ghost town? or all by myself? I do think we can spice up the CSC competition with ab it of fun like this.
-
AC/DC Back in Black would be class
-
and then Joy Division's "Isolation", anything by the Only Ones, "Where were you?" by the Mekons and then as a final finale before kick off, "Are you lonesome tonight" .....
-
I am absolutely certain everyone on here will agree with me here. If Fanfare is dropped there is only one possible alternative..........It has to be the papiermache head doing Red Red Robin.

Tongue in cheek post of the year
-
I have the paint and bed sheets ready ...... No Fanfare is not Fan Fair !
-
dear god is nothing sacred?
alty run out to fanfare for the common man. thats what they do. much like the ravens in the tower of london, if this ever stops happening then there will be dire consequences.
even if it is rubbish
-
It,s got to be fanfare i remember it in the 70,s think it was niel davies doing the announcments.Something like team news, birthday wishes, top chart song of the time with fanfare dropped over the top of it just as the teams ran out, good 2 minutes of fanfare then taem news again brilliant. (NO OFFENCE RAFO).
PS. RUN MY OWN DISCO/KARAOKE GOT LOADS OF SPARE GEAR IF YOU LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU NEED SOUNDS LIKE MXR/AMP I WILL GLADLY DONATE ONE TO THE CLUB.
-
I have the paint and bed sheets ready ...... No Fanfare is not Fan Fair !
The Gazelle could not do better!!!!!
Has anyone considered the damage to the space time continuium if alty stop running out to fanfare?...we'd enter a wierd parralel dimension where Northwich fans are better looking than us and drive nicer cars.....where will it end?
-
Its heartbreaking to think of it...
You can just see the faces at Anfield...."its not You'll Never Walk Alone Tonight lads, we've lost the CD"....
-
LAPTOP + MP3 FILES OB SORTED. 8)
-
Where's Rafo has he gone in hiding? ??? ??? ???

FACT

After having some time to reflect on the comments on this thread, here is my response:
Just for the record, i have not LOST the cd, it has been STOLEN (borrowed, removed, lent out, whatever you want to dress it up as or call it)
It was left in the usual place it always was and was taken along with several other items that personally belonged to me.
I can't recall who did the original copy (Possibly gaz???), but i do have it on several cd's including in live format.
HOWEVER, i cant seem to find THE Version that we have played at the match for so long for love nor money. I have recently bought three elp albums trying to find the correct version, without success.
Sadly, this disc also had the music that is played at the end of the game on. Anyone know the title or artist???
Gaz, can you e-mail me about it???
Crewe alty, pm me to discuss what you have put on here about the possibility of using some of your spare gear??? Maybe we could meet up one match day??? thanks
Also for the record there was NEVER any suggestion by me that the "run out music" should be changed.
nevertheless thank you for you comments in regards to this subject. i shall now take some time to consider my postion at the club.

I think that was used at the end of matches around 1994/95 if it's the piece of music I'm thinking of (can't access youtube at work).

Can nothing be left lying around these days??????
FFS, who stole the CD's, what a nightmare. All the hard work done in the close season by GH/GB/GG is going to come unstuck because of petty theft.
This has to be sorted. I love that music at the end of the game, whenever I used to play golf at alty i'd get near the ground and start whistling, im sure it raised my terribly low game.
Some things must not change, fanfare is one, hating Macc is another!
-
Thanks Cult, it is very similar...but the 'Rafo' version seems to be being played on Rolf's Stylephone and a bazooka.
-
The music played at the end of the game wwas the music played at the end of ITVs coverage of the 1998 World Cup final. I have this on video at home (I'm in Wales at the moment). WHen I get home I'll check the credits and find out exactly who it was and who it was by.
Edit: I think this is it
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=juHZcLzX9Fc
I knew being this weird would come in handy one day. :)
Also, tell the BSP to sling it with their gay insistence that both teams come out together. We're not the sodding premiership or a cup final. It's the conference.
The away team can sheepishly come out before Phil Taylor stands at the end of the tunnel to give the thumbs up to signify the start of fanfare so that the mighty robins runout to it all on their own. DA DA DAAAR DA DA DAAARR
-
It's definitely not the tune linked above...it's similar but not quite the same.
The tune played at the end of games evokes loads of memories; when I think about the end of match tune, the flood light are on, it's a bit misty/rainy and I'm thinking "get in there Alty' - Stu is sliding down on his knees and I'm in the bar by the second part of the tune ordering a pint of smooth from Jenny - obviously that didn't happen too often last season!
-
Yeh, I thinkit's slightly different too. I'll find out when I get back on Friday though.
-
although i think it should stay the same, it would be a laugh to come out to;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZZADbubu0Y
that was a joke.
i look around and found.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4uypxdAciw
-
We still need to find out who pinched the CD though.
Did anyone see a chef lurking around the ground in the last few weeks, that might give us a clue as to where the CD now resides.
-

I find it hard to believe that the ravens in the Tower of London come out to Fanfare For The Common Man!? :o ;)
-
By the way, as a plan B if fanfare was knackered. I think it'd be great to have a mosh up to this before we came out. The first minute or so is brilliant.

Dont change it!! Me and my mum used to play full blast in the car on the way to Alty matches, and now we love it again 'cos its the music to the Olympic adverts with Daley Thompson!
Good luck Saturday, and for the rest of the season.

Mrs Band
Mrs Band,
On the evidence of your pleas for concert tickets on this Forum a while ago, I thought that you would have preferred Alty to have run out to Take That singing Could It Be Magic....?!
-
The day it is changed is the day the club will die, fanfare is altrincham fc, and will be as long as there is a hole in my ....................
err socks
-
Many, many yerars ago.
Did we at one time come out to one of "Herb Alberts" melodies?
-
late 60's early 70's we played a brass band type toon it went de de de de da der der der der der der der
-
Fanfare for the Common Man was introduced at the beginning of the 1977-78 season and thus coincides with the Glory Days quite neatly.
At the beginning of the 70's the run out tune was the Match of the Day theme - I remember being late for the Blackburn FA Cup replay, running down Acacia Avenue and hearing the MOTD theme rising into the crisp winter air!
-

Reminds me of watching Widnes RLFC in the late 70s where they used to play "The Floral Dance" (non Wogan version)

fanfare is a good song for alty (though actually used commenly by circus's with "the final countdown" by europe),!!! must not be replaced,
Even if it does sound like a cat squeeling inside a sythersiser at times!!!! ;D

Although it would be nice to know where the original CD has gone, Rafo now has a 7 inch vinyl copy of the original ELP version of Fanfare, which he was given, with much cheering and applause last night.
