Entering into a time limited lease with a private landlord without rollover provision - who in their right mind would wish for that? Thankfully such a situation has never existed at Alty by virtue of the fact that our ground is owned by the local authority and leased to us with the added protection of a restrictive covenant. Even majority shareholders of our club with property development expertise have been unable to circumvent that.
Quite right. I assume your last paragraph refers to Maunders, since he went all the club officials since have only sought to enhance the protection and achieved two lease extensions and we now have about a 78 year lease.
Good governence that,... but also partly why wealthy property investors have been put off investing in the club, thats either a good thing or a bad one depending on your viewpoint.
