Title: Stockport County
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on November 18, 2021, 02:25:38 PM
In the light of last night's pitch invasion, one wonders whether Stockport Council will be questioning Health & Safety at Edgeley Park.

I doubt it. The ground is owned by Stockport MBC and so is in tip top condition.

Don't we rent ML from the council? Didn't stop them.

PS. ⚠️Memory alert: Could be wrong about that 😉

PPS. Do I need to check ☑ my irony filters?

I may be wrong but I think we have a long lease on ML.

Edgeley Park was picked up by the Council when Sale Sharks then owner Brian Kennedy decided he didn't want to own it any more. The football club had no money so couldn't buy it and looked like they were going to be homeless until the council stepped forward and bought it as a community asset.

We own our ground in as much as the fixtures and fittings. But the land is leased from Trafford, it was extended long term a few years ago.

I was thinking more about the crowd control element.

Well, on the few occasions I've been I've always thought they have loads of stewards and police compared with us. Granted they get much bigger gates.

Presumably the invasion was one of joyous celebration. Ours was just a fool hoping to get in front of the cameras.
