Alty Recognized Internationally
« on: April 25, 2013, 07:29:48 PM »

I was asked to contribute an item for an international exhibition being held in an art gallery in Wellesley, MA, 10 minutes outside of Boston. Naturally, I decided to lend them an Alty item; last season's number 16 shirt signed by the entire squad. I went and had a look today and two guys, one from Iran the other from Haiti were interested in it and asked me all about the team. They were impressed that we had links with Manchester United and by us having a full international in James Lawrie. I was also asked if we played at Old Trafford!

yes. everything is art as far as I can tell.  even a pile of bricks.  if you reckon it's art, it's art. If cutting a dead cow in half is art then an Alty top sure as hell is.

I like it....but is it art?

The stark contrast between the red and the white is a striking assault upon the senses. The club crest adds a multi-coloured historical perspective to the piece that can't help but evoke emotion in the viewer. The bold use of the sponsors logo grabs the attention and leads one down the path of contemplation on the throw-away nature of today's consumer society. The signatories add an earthy authenticity to the piece and a sense of ownership and belonging that can never be denied.

.....or some such old tosh.

Thanks Hamilton!

And the exhibit isn't really supposed to be art, it's just supposed to represent a lot of different cultures. This represents the UK, since football is such a big part of our culture.
