A sad sad day, what aplace it was, i think . A million memories and probably even more lost memories. getting a taxi home to Westminster road has to be amongst the most ridiculous.2 million attempts to pull with a success rate of about 6, speech may have been a useful assett in some of these attempts . Only evicted three times i can recall.
Frank carson, stax of soul, (fantastic) CB night (my handle was plump chub)private party night on a monday after the match. open before the match and at half time for a couple of years. Snooker room. always quicker to get served at the top bar. DJ Lance?? always losing your coat ticket and arguing with bernard sorry i could bore you for hours

Chequers RIP fair well old friend it was a shame to see it decaying but hard to take now its gone

I remember a New Years Eve party there late 60's early 70's when some of the players came in on the stroke of midnight dressed as either old father time or the 'baby new year' in a white towel done up like a nappy.
I was a young 'un at the time and well gassed on about four pints but it was a fantastic night.
Stayed at a friend's house up near Timpsons and couldn't get a taxi so had to walk through the golf course - got bak in a right state!
Happy Days.

I'm far younger than you oldies ;) so my only experience of Chequers was a couple of school 'discos' being held there in the 1990's. At one of them one Johnny King was seen propping up the bar and my friends couldn't understand why I kept pointing at him saying "that's Kingy!" My only other memories are dancing to Jump Around by House of Pain and then being sick outside  :-\

The only time I remember being in there was the end of season 'do' when we won the trophy last time (1986), it was held in there, I took some piccys of the FA trophy which was sat on a table for most of the night.

Let's hope they remember to brick the door up into the 20/20 end or the cash we get from the away fans could drop alarmingly.  :D

I walked past today and I have to say I am troubled by the mere harris fencing against the away end, something much more strong is needed in the short term or "I fear a Riot"......    :-\
