Sbarra would be fantastic but I doubt it's realistic - as others have suggested, he'll probably get an EFL move.

Connor Hall has been made available for transfer and has scored quite a few at NLN for both Chorley and Brackley - a few years younger than Beck but I appreciate Beck gives us the slightly more Route One option we're missing.

Connor Hall is a player I've always wanted at Alty and I think it's a very realistic signing for us.

The problem is (as you correctly state) we really do lack an alternative route 1 approach, a Plan B and for me, someone of Beck's calibre fits that bill.

Signing both may be viable if CCC departs.

I'm sure I've seen Connor Hall tagged in social media posts with Lewis Baines (obviously they were teammates at Chorley), that sort of stuff has definitely got to help I suppose.

Might be that we've always had a limited wage available for a backup striker, but depending on any sale that might not be the case next time.

Hm. So it's not a done deal then. 🤔

Unless he's being a little disingenuous. (don't think so really)

Chris Parry has responded to one of those rumour sites who'd announced a deal had been agreed, saying he might want to check that again.

I reckon we're well off agreeing a deal with anyone just yet.

At the risk of being bannished to that place in East Cheshire beginning with ‘M’ one observation i have on CCC over the last few games of the season was that he seemed desperate to get on the scoresheet rather than looking at who was around him in the box that were in better positions to ‘slot the ball’ home. Certainly a couple of chances at Bromley and there were a number of frustrated reactions as to why he shot instead of passed from his team mates in the box. Maybe its the ‘selfish striker’ mode i dont know, but as good as CCC is maybe , and im not saying he isnt before i write this, a more team focus no 10 is needed. I wouldnt want to see him leave as his skill is great but maybe his awareness in the box could be worked on and trick the opposition into thinking he is playing 23/24 style of ‘going it alone’ to draw defenders into him but then break out 24/25 style to pass to those unmarked so the team benefits from his ability scoring more next season

Just my thoughts. And getting packed ready for the knock on the door from the extradition team to cart me off to ‘M.;?)?;ld

Looking forward to 2024 season

I think your points are perfectly valid, yes - all the more reason for him to choose his next club VERY carefully as he's the type of player that needs to be given licence to roam (with minimal defensive duty) and there's very little of them in the EFL setup in general.

Also I agree that the next number 10 might be a little more functional, more of an orthodox attacking midfielder rather than a secondary striker maybe.

Four divisions step up is a biggie though.
I hope we can ease him in gently.
I'm sure Parky and Sorvs have been looking at this for quite a while and will have a pathway mapped out.
Come on you Supers 👍 🇦🇹

I’d heard about this one last month, so I reckon we had him lined up for a while. Raw numbers excellent & he’s of a good age. Suspect a loan to a Conference North club will depend on how he looks in pre-season. A parting gift from Rob E.

I think a loan out to NLN (or maybe a decent NPL outfit) must be on the cards, although I think that was the plan for George Wilson but he impressed enough in pre-season to be kept around the first team squad.

Welcome to the club, Lucas - and good luck!

I think Parky would have to think a player would be a nailed on starter who improved the team considerably before signing a 30 year old.

Since when did 30 become ancient though?! We need to add the right experience and Minihan has won this league before...

One more right back... Sam Minihan has confirmed he is moving on from Buxton after winning their fan's player of the season award this past year.

30 years old, could still do a job at this level I reckon.

Gutted to hear this news, but Rob has left us in a very healthy position - absolutely huge shoes to fill for any successor. I wish him the very best of luck.

500K would be unbelievable. I think (should CCC leave) it'll be nearer the Stokes fee tbh but I hope you are right. Do I think Fleetwood would have been stupid? Yes 🤣

Whatever happens, I just hope it's done quickly (and undisclosed) so the club know where they stand.
Fleetwood are getting money because of his age. They will have done % deal though it's almost a standard feature of lower league transfers. See us getting some money for signing and never playing Berry. We'll do the same with Chris when we sell him I'm certain. We know from Watmore though that doesn't always work out so well.

Stokes went for over 300 all in I think and he came with a wage free loan back. so that's 500k in value surely. We've gotta hope it gets bidding war silly to push to the higher end. Which as has been mentioned might come with the social media frenzy.

Again, correct me if I'm wrong (and I very well could be!) but I'm not sure age comes into it - Fleetwood agreed a transfer with us, of their own free will, for a player that was under contract with them. How well they negotiated in terms of sell-on % is up to them.
Age does I believe for players under 23 that have been trained by an academy there is a fixed solidarity percentage around 5%. This will mean Burnley and Fleetwood profit. We got the same when Dan Mooney left for his sojourn to the world of big crowds and small squads.

The owner of the club does not do the contract administration either. It would be negligent of an employee to just not bother with an industry standard clause.

We'll owe around 20-25% is my guess to Fleetwood (& Burnley to a lesser extent). With similar percentages negotiated in with the sale price when we are negotiating. Remember this clause is free money to all selling parties involved. It's an easy sweetener on a player you rate.

Dan Mooney was out of contract though - I thought it was to protect clubs who had developed a young player only to lose them for absolutely nothing?

I agree that I'd be amazed if the industry standard clause isn't in there - out of a £250k fee for argument's sake, I suspect at least £50k would go to Fleetwood.

Burnley chose to release him, I don't think they'd get a penny otherwise it would be carnage up and down the pyramid. I'm sure the acid test is demonstrating that you put your own contract on the table.
There are two rules. The one we were able to take advantage of as a out of contract player with Mooney, then the training solidarity fee which is where we'd need to share some cash in a sale situation to all parties involved in their development.

I know of this due to FM but it is real :) they might not know the actual wages/real player ratings etc. but they do have the rules to hand.

Wasn't familiar with this at all! Thanks for the info.

Fleetwood's owner is in jail, they were relegation fodder. I doubt they would have had the wisdom to negotiate anything in terms of selling on fee - they'd have just seen the transfer fee and run.

I hope you're right!

Any chance they'll let us have Cian Hayes too?

Lots of very strong right backs from this league are  available this summer - Tylor Golden from Halifax, James Clarke from Solihull (who is from the North West) and Connor Barrett from Fylde - although I think they'd have been more realistic if we'd have gone up and it's not a huge priority position unless someone is presented to us that we simply can't refuse.

Add Jeff King to this list...
I'm a believer that the King name is sacred here and he should come just because of that.

My concern is he's a demon going forward but is his defence as strong as we need it to be?

I think Jeff King has Oldham written all over it - and as you say, he's often referred to as a 'non league Trent Alexander-Arnold' due to his prowess going forward compared to his ability to actually defend properly.

I'd be surprised if any of those options I listed (Barrett, Clarke, Golden) don't get moves to the EFL.

I didn't think the players received anything unless they managed to negotiate a sign-on bonus with the contract they agree with the new club...?

Don't forget that - unless they've been REALLY stupid - Fleetwood must be due some sort of sell-on too.

I agree on the asking price - Josh Stokes went for £250k in January to much less fanfare than this, it's the summer and the social media hype has helped - I think we can be expecting double that, I really do.

JL site says "12 months after arriving on a free"...

I thought we paid a club record fee for him?
