Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Stourbridge- Match Thread
« on: February 27, 2018, 01:50:18 PM »
Following a pitch inspection tonight's game at home to Stourbridge has had to be postponed because of a partly frozen playing surface. This decision comes despite hard work by the groundsman and volunteers to make the pitch playable. Our next scheduled game is at Shaw Lane AFC on Saturday.

I'm sure the ground staff worked hard but there were absolutely loads of cars at the ground today and it didn't seem to be the nursery. Seemed to be lads in Alty tracksuits knocking about. Could they not have helped?

If the call goes out for volunteers to remove the snow rather than let it melt into the pitch would it be playable?

We've had two or three people offer to help on Twitter already.

Are there any other people at the ground who could help (apart from the people like Rowley Fordy etc who will be doing it already)?

Leaves us short on numbers at full back.

There's a bit of a chatty culture at home games nowadays to be honest, its really poor but for about 25/30 of us.

The answer to this, and having 794 fans rattling around a 6,000 capacity stadium, is to not be so shambolically run that we stoop down to such a ridiculous level. And more so, never accepting it, enjoyable as winning quite often is.

PP was overjoyed with the crowd on non league day and a modicum of chanting so he'll be quite happy anyway.

I'd be embarrassed if we segregated a match where there won't be any more than 30 away fans tops.

It really does depend where the interest is coming from though.

For example, sale sharks are looking for a new home. If they have been making enquiries how do you fancy playing second fiddle to a rugby club. I don't think it will be them because they are looking to own their own ground .

At the risk of distraction on an important thread, and presuming it wasn't a theoretical example, I can assure you 100% that Sale aren't looking to move from the AJ Bell. You can have Internet conjecture if you like but from the horses mouth they ain't looking to move.

So it's 2:30pm on Saturday and no reason on God's green earth why we can't play at Shaw Lane on Monday night...

In fairness, whilst the board should have been able to sort the Coalville debacle out (albeit there could be outside/police influence there that they haven't told us about for whatever reason) I'm not sure they have had much or any say in this.
I can't believe they had the final say as to whether they agree as if so they would have agreed to it much earlier

SLA and Mansfield have found a loophole with regards to the replay date (which in itself raises integrity questions as to what Mansfield may have asked for in return!). Quite why it has to be called off already is a mystery because it may become a moot point by 3pm tomorrow? I'm sure the BBC bit is bollocks though as no reason the game can't go on at 7:45 as scheduled anyway.

Don't know if this true but rumours have circulated that Crystal Palace scouts were

In the ground today watching JJ,message for them scouts sod off he is not for sale.

It'd be no surprise to hear that scouts are watching JJ as a player with his raw ability should not be in our league.

Whilst I have seen Yannick Bolasie play at Moss Lane I wouldn't get too worried...

Absolutely the saddest of sad news. Difficult to explain really, although Hash does a bit, but he and the rest of the team were heroes and we bonded with them largely unlike modern times, a real part of our youth and happier times has passed. Rest in peace Reidy

As I mentioned last week, not sure the team can cope with setbacks, so keep the momentum going.

Just to add that I'm not being churlish and it's not pp fault that being top is par for what I expected, I feared it could be worse of course.

We have to get out of here and then take proper steps on mindset and infrastructure so that this can't happen again.

Amazing transformation after 2 years of hell

Long may it continue

Not that amazing Wayne surely, just bottoming out. If we'd had 3 years of hell and been in the division below we'd be even better.. but yes at least we're on the right track on the pitch

Chester have just signed their star striker, Jordan Archer (who was on the radar of a lot of league clubs in the summer).

That's got to be good news.

Good news for him, he's just put them one up 11 minutes into his debut.

194
I think the point he's making is that we make a big fuss of the easy things we do, organising kids parties, some social media, diversity officers etc but the actual hard stuff, raising investment, clinical football decisions, having the balls to ring Chester up and tell them their fans are on the open terrace because they were wankers previously and not to come if they're that arsed we're absolutely sh*t at.

Guiseley is exactly the template we should be looking at but we're weak from top to almost bottom.

Would play our strongest team (without risking injuries). Think this team is a momentum team, and we currently have it. Just a guess of course, but I wouldn't be writing games off with this team

Yeh I think there's some merit in this. I certainly think Ashton will be a useful barometer of where we are as they'll be a Test and won't roll over like a couple of teams had so far.

However, Saturday is a top of the table clash so I expect PP will err on the side of caution.

What's wrong with Hannigan now?...
