To be fair to Macc they have spotted we get knocked out of the FA Cup every season. Top work.
-
one of the many things that get me about Macc is that they are in a false position as a league team - they do not have the support base or the finances to sustain league football, and now chickens are coming home to roost. Not paying taxes, their manager and their players is a disgrace and a club like that does not deserve league football - they are the authors of their own downfall because they spent money they have not got to get back into the football league.
In comparision, we are on a financially sound footing, and if we do get in a position to go for promotion to the Football League, which I believe we will, we have a growing fanbase and bags of potential to grow more and I think we would be fine. As I have been saying for years - we are a bigger club than Macc and always have been.
Another thing i really hate about Macc is their mini 'firm' which comprises of about 3 40 something year old fat saddos who should know better, and about 20 15 to 17 year olds who can't hold their drink. I wonder how they are getting on steaming into the home fans bars at the likes of Grimsby, Swindon, Carlisle, Crewe, Bradford City and Plymouth. I sm sure they are tearing it up every where they go ;D ::)

Great sympathy with the players and staff who haven't received what's owed to them.
But anyone with an once of intelligence could see how this was going to play out from months ago. The EFL really needs to be held accountable for letting this run and run
-
I'm not sure how this is the leagues fault......this is down to the management of the club. Keeping your "head above water" whatever league you are playing in, is the most important aspect of the club.
-
As with Bury it's not the league's responsibility to run clubs properly, that is the boards concern.
The league has a duty to other members that each club can fulfil all their fxtures. Fixtures = income. That process seems a bit flimsy.

The League's fit and proper test is not fit for purpose. They needed to come down hard on Macclesfield's owner.
-
The problem is that the EFL doesn't currently have the powers to do that. To get them would require the majority of clubs to vote for the change. Its probably not in the interest of some clubs to do that. A lot of league clubs are in a perilous state.

Oldham fans were holding a protest before their game and an optional boycott

Doubts they can fulfil their next game too, due to safety issues at Moss Rose!

Game has been called off they really are in trouble

Feel sorry for Plymouth who are already in Cheshire and for any of their fans who have travelled up

Safety concerns. Hmmm. Wonder what they could be.
-
Some of their players were on part time wages.....when they were paid. I wonder if there are 2 or 3 we could look at.........

There is a confusing statement on Macc's website. Their owner, not that we can or should believe him, says as far as he is concerned the game will be played as scheduled, and that they haven't asked for it to be played behind closed doors.
I think that means they hope to do exactly that.

Plymouth fans may have travelled up today, only to be told they cannot see their club play. The League can't let that precedent be set.
The game's off. Points will be deducted.

It seems a bit odd that a safety certificate should expire halfway through a season
-
The safety certification is down to the Safety Advisory Group which will led by the Cheshire East local authority , in this case, so it won't necessarily follow the football seaon.
I imagine that is why they might be trying to get the EFL, as a separate body, to agree to the game being played closed doors. As Back Roads said, the game is off, and this just seems desperate.

I hate to see clubs in trouble like this(even Macc). They are a close rival of ours and have always been.I know its hard, but you would think the fans would come up with some way of helping the club at the very least or to try and save them at the best.I dont know the ins and outs of this, maybe its a greedy owner (like the green team we used to play).Had some great times and games against Macc and would not like to see them fold.
