Now, if he were to come to Alty......

I reckon United need the money, which is why Fergie may be driving a couple of wedges between them.

If Rooney has any sense (which given his current state of mind doesn't seem to be the case),he would stay at United.Main man, adored by thousands upon thousands. If he went to Madrid, who according to Mourinho is not interested in January anyway, he would be another bit part player, and I think would be a flop abroad ala Rush.

Talking of Premiership, I said a few weeks ago that if City beat Blackpool at Bloomfield Road that they would actually be title contenders, the sort of game City would slip up at etc. I would be very surprised if they don't finish in top 4 now.

They say Fergie is a great man manager but he doesn't half have to get rid of some quality players...his answer always seems to be get rid.

Fergie knackered Rooney out last season in a futile bid to win the title...he hasn't been the same since.

For Man Utd's future see Liverpool's present problems and double it but with the owner unbudgeable.

He is a brilliant man manager. Knowing that you can't be a friend to your players is important - as is being ruthless enough to get rid when all is not well. He got rid of three big players, was told you can't win anything with kids, then went on to win the treble and a load of other pots. Got rid of Beckham, replaced him with a young Ronaldo, won three leagues and a Champions League.

I agree risking Rooney against Bayern ultimately buggered up the end of United season. Not sure there were many alternatives though.

Yes, I agree. They're in terrible, terrible trouble. The FCUM mob are absolutely correct in that respect. Those people still going to OT and buying merchandise are just prolonging the period for which the Glazers can milk the club. Either the club makes a major merchandising breakthrough in Asia/the next TV deal is a club-by-club pay-per-view arrangement, or United are at risk of going bankrupt.

Totally agree with this, he can throw his toys out at OT and hold the club to ransom as he is the main event there, at Madrid he'd be just another name... Mourinho wouldn't want to put up with his petulance either.

That said, I don't think he has a choice at the minute, his Mrs probably wants him away from the players who he socialised with when he met that girl.

It really is a sorry state of affairs.

As for City being interested, I can't see that they need him at the minute.

Same thing is happening with torres, there's no doubt these players don't go sh*t overnight but when your getting overshadowed by berbatov something is very wrong, scholes and gigs won't be able to win anything for u considering there age now

Man Utd won't go bankrupt. They make to much money and the debt would be easily bought. Torres is playing badly for one reason only, he's playing in a sh*t team.

I don't often disagree with you Ballers, but IMHO (and that of my best mate who's a season ticket holder at Anfield) Torres'  lack of enthusiasm is a big part of the reason they're so poor ! Benitez screwed up the squad in his last two years, and Torres apparently seriously wants to go back home.

Actually Phil, i'm a big Torres fan and prob trying to find excuses for him. He does look as tho he decided to stay for one more year last year and now wants to go home. They ran him into the ground last year too. The paucity of service he get is still a big factor tho imo.

Thanks to failing to get a decent understudy, Torres has been consistently rushed back before fully fit over the last 2/3 years. Might have done some long-term damage?

As for United going bust, a lot depends on the next TV deal. I noticed that having previously had huge waiting lists for season tickets, they were struggling to shift the last of them this season. They've also got large interests payments to continuously find, whilst the quality of the squad seems to be in terminal deline. Tevez and Ronaldo gone. Rooney might be off. Ferdinand is seriously getting on and is more and more injury prone. Giggs and Scholes very little left in the tank.

Stranger things have happened.

Rooney will stay at united. Moving to London would put him under even more media scrutiny. In Spain he'd be less of a star (and it would do coleen's own career no favours) whilst going to city would be a total pr disaster for united.

I can't see united going bust either. The fan base and income streams are simply too high. Owning united is the ultimate ego trip, there 'd be others waiting to buy out the glazers and restructure the debt.

So wayne rooney/beckham/stam etc etc goes off form and rather than man manage fergie just gets rid and either has the resources or luckily already has a player to replace....that's not man management.

Fergie was hailed and took the plaudits for keeping the media off Ryan giggs and keeping him on the straight and narrow.....but ryan giggs is just a quiet unassuming bloke a bit like paul scholes....both required no man management at all and din't want to go clubbing or appear in hello.....both just want to play football and go home to a family life.

A proper man manager would get the errant player back onside and fully committed to his cause.

And this time fergie will not have the resources to replace Rooney....lets see if they can fill OT when they are in liverpools position, with city winning the league and playing in europe how many utd tops will we see around the place?...£800m in debt....£80m interest per year? I agree they wont go bust for good coz if the banks ever foreclose they'll just be sold as a going concern but there are really hard times ahead for Utd...

Hmmm, I seem to recall this quiet unassuming bloke being all over the papers some time around 1997 for assaulting his then girlfriend in a nightclub, punching her in the face and stomach.....nice.........that story has certainly been glossed over in the rewriting of footballers history. His borther is a real (wannabe) thug, but that's another story entirely.

One of the main reasons I prefer to watch Alty......... No fkn big time charlies in this league...

If Rooney wants to leave then just get the best deal you can for him.. No good covering the sports pages  in the press everyday with all this will he wont he sh*t..

Nobody is bigger than any club... Mag to Grid   Get Rid......

His behaviour has been atrocious, considering the club stood by him through 2 highly embarrassing public misdemeanors its a disgrace he is acting like this.

Confirmed now that he wants to go by SAF on Sky Sports News.

Fergie should bench him now until he leaves, the spoilt, stupid little brat.

At times like this I am reminded why I love watching Alty so much... I can't stand the attitudes of players in the Premiership.

I suspect there may be a tad more to this than meets the eye. Ferguson is doing a good job at winning the PR war. Then again, he is the master of that.

Still, I agree with the general sentiment. Wayne Rooney, much like a lot of players at that level who get too much too soon, is a terrible human being.

Rooney's actions do seem to indicate that he's being very greedy and ungrateful.

However, you'd think that United had never tapped up and/or tried to unsettle players at other clubs before the way they bleating on about the situation.. They're by no means innocent and, to a large extent, they are reaping what they've sown for many years now.

Don't blame him. if someone offered me £150,000 a week and someone offered me £250,000 a week to do essentially the same job: I'd chose the latter.

Not sure i'd want an agent who use to sell vacuum cleaners taking 15% of his earning.

Hopefully Fergie will make him rot in the reserves for his disobedience - that would pack out Moss Lane.

I heard it was 30% of anything over what they paid, still be a hefty wedge no doubt, good bit of business for Everton.

if he rots in the reserves and waits his time City get him for nothing in 18 months and everton get 30% of nothing.  unlikely to happen as Baghdad Rovers have put a bid in for him.

Lou Macari was interveiwed on Sky the day before yestarday when the s**t hit the fan and was saying that there is some recent case whereby a player in the last 2 years of his contract can buy himself out by paying up his wages remaining due until the end of his contract.

Nobody else seems to have picked up on this in the press, but if it is true then United and Everton stand to get sweet FA out of him if he exercises that option/right.

Was at the match last night and noticed a banner in one corner unfurled just as United were awarded a corner which said 'Whose The Whore Now Rooney ?'

Doubt Sky would have picked up on it but life is going to be a bit uncomfortable for the mercenary little s**t over the next few weeks.
