Considering our form, the financial situation and the number of aturday postponements, I think that's a pleasing figure.

Nantwich get good crowds considering the level at which they play.

Am I right in thinking Chester have been omitted? And that the massive increases at Warrington and Chorley are down to huge away followings from Chester?

Have Macc had a couple of full houses against Bury and Stockport or something? 2,720 seems a little high?

Chester are down the bottom, apparently with 0 attendance. Most surprising for me is when you look at the percentages towards the bottom- the lowest figuer is a 49% decrease from Hayes

From Barrow;

TESTING TIMES - FOOD FOR THOUGHT

By Phil Yelland, from the supplement to the Barrow v Tamworth programme

In the Kettering Town programme a week last Saturday there was an interesting
feature on the average home gates of clubs in Blue Square Bet Premier this
season and that set me thinking. Much has been said recently about our own need
to get average attendances of 1500 per home game to meet the figure budgeted for
at the start of the season. It is no secret that we are some way short of that,
but how do we compare to other clubs?

The table below shows details of the clubs in the League who have been playing
over the last three seasons, their average gates and the percentage increase or
decrease between two seasons ago and this season.

Average Home Attendances.

Club 2008-09 2009-10 2010-11 % - ,+ or -

Altrincham 1084 901 1088 ------

Barrow 1552 1169 1249 -19.5%

Cambridge Utd 3970 2955 2576 -35.1%

Crawley Town 1204 903 1823 + 51.4%

Eastbourne B 1387 1001 1152 -17.1%

Forest Green R 955 902 896 -6.2%

Histon 1402 700 565 -59.7%

Kettering Town 1615 1239 1543 -4.5%

Kidderminster H 1688 1388 1349 -20.1%

Mansfield Town 2424 3092 2325 -16.2%

Rushden & Diamonds 1494 1364 1294 -13.4%

Wrexham 3367 2485 2774 -17.7%

York City 2360 2560 2437 +3.3%

Only two of the clubs in question have shown an increase in gates - perhaps not
surprisingly title-chasing Crawley Town are one of them. The other is York City
but their average gate is still down on last season. Everyone else has suffered
falling attendances - in the case of the biggest falls at Cambridge United and
Histon, that is down to much poorer results.

You could argue that only two of the clubs in question - Crawley Town and
Wrexham are really in contention for the title or play-off places and whilst
local derbies and games against the likes of Luton Town and AFC Wimbledon may
yet generate season best gates for some of the above clubs in the weeks ahead, I
would suggest that for most in the above list the average gate will drop further
before the end of the season. That is bad enough but of course since January 1st
the VAT to be paid on gate receipts has risen from 17.5% to 20%.

For those who may have not seen the Kettering programme, the best supported side
in the Division this year at home are Luton Town with an average gate of 6383.
AFC Wimbledon with an average home gate of 3448 and Grimsby Town 3278 are the
next best supported teams.

In addition to Forest Green Rovers and Histon, Hayes and Yeading and Gateshead
are also averaging home gates of less than 1000 fans per game. When you think of
the reported wage bills of some clubs and the overheads they must have, there
may be troubled times ahead for a number of clubs.

Word of caution, its only up until 4th September so for teams in NPL if they had already played FCUM then their average is false, see Ashton United as an example.

To be fair Graham, Chester, Halifax and Fcum are completely skewering Unibond league attendance figures all over the place. If you must be below the conference then in with those lot is probably quite useful.

Although I expect that next year they'll be Conf North/Unibond Prem.
