The rain overnight and this morning was truly biblical, I live less than a 100m from the ground, the local park is flooded as I have never ever seen before, the brook now a river behind the ground is overflowing.
I know we have partial pitch covers, ( i chipped in towards them), but where does the water run of these? Straight onto the grass and surroundings. The water table is I guess 3 foot higher than normal so do they make a difference unless you have dedicated pitch drainage that doesn't drain into the local ditch, that feeds into a brook that looks tidal at present.
There is no easy solution to this issue at the ground without significant investment, that I guess would cost in excess of £500k
I pray the rain eases to allow the pitch to drain as the brook level drops away. So we can get the game on.
