That is indeed a really lovely gesture from Rochdale. It puts a lot of things in perspective.

I'm going to go out on a limb a bit here. Fighting cancer isn't brave, you don't get the choice pretty much.  My late wife had Inflammatory Breast Cancer and she didn't describe herslf as brave (and fel she was being spoken down to when folk said she was) but she did all she could.  It's not easy to express it properly, but bravery is something Firefighters have, RNLI crews have and folk who stand up to a thug in the street to defend an OAP have. Being dealt a crap hand isn't the same thing.  Hope I don't cause any distress to anybody, apoliges if I have done.

Great story from Rochdale, lovely gesture.

I understand your point of view and up to a point I agree with you. For me personally, it' whether you choose to and how how you choose to fight it that shows the bravery. My Aunty was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has decided that she doesn't want to attempt any treatment because it might be difficult and has therefore given herself a life sentence. There is no bravery in that.

I think it's he same with most terminal diseases though. Some people fall and some people thrive. Mark Maddox and his fight against MND shows true bravery, as some people would just accept defeat and give up.

Superb gesture from Rochdale by the way.
