Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Safe
« on: April 19, 2023, 09:27:46 AM »
All in all, I think it has been a good but unpredictable season, with the change from part to full time. We had a good squad, which was broken up during the January transfer window, but we managed to replace the lost players and get the results which led us to safety. My highlight was the FA Trophy run, and despite it's minor value, we are still in a cup final with a chance of some silverware.

Most importantly, we are safe from relegation and have stopped being a yo-yo club like we were prior to Phil and Neil arriving. We have the basis of a good football team for next season, with some new additions and the return of Matty Kosylo. We are also now set up to improve season on season, and ouir crowds average over 2000.

I would call that meeting the plan.

Brilliant, means the girls can go too, and Saturday is not our final home game of the season.

All I want from the team at the moment is to get that final win and 3 points to make us safe this season.

I have found it a little frustrating that for whatever reason of those already mentioned, we have been unable to go further than our current 13th league position. I hope we get those 3 points soon, hopefully at Dorking.

Plus also, lets get Matty Kosylo back too!

I agree with you, I would also love to see us reach the third round of the FA Cup, and again have a good run in the trophy. Providing we buy shrewdly and keep a fair few of our players by extending contracts, and extending Phil and Neil's contract.

We do need to keep revenue increasing from ticket sales by keeping all our new supporters, we will do that if Phil and Neil re-sign again. I feel they need a full 3 year contract again, also to keep other teams from poaching them. It would be great for Alty to have a longer-term management team, United did that with Sir Alex. While they are two different teams, Phil and Neil's teams are improving season on season. I would also like us to hit the ground running next season. Whilst there were so many changes and player losses at the beginning, going full time, imagine if we had hit the ground running this season. We would have been in the play-offs no doubt, so yes we can do it next season.

Yes, I've worked that out already. And that is if we lose every game ongoing and Yeovil win every one, there are others  possibly in the mix too.

Beat Gateshead and we are mathematically safe from relegation even if Yeovil win.

As Lewis signed the beginning of this season, does he still not have one year to run on his contract.

I would like Phil and Neil's contract extended next, so they have a rolling two year contract.

What I'm not sure of is:-

1) Is it mandatory
2) How do the club feel about this
3) Our club has always behaved honourably with our injured players - is this being taken away from us, and the players?
4) Can clubs ignore the rule and carry on as before
5) Will the club be fined or punished if they do not comply
6) Sorry but I myself am totally against this - players have to pay mortgages and actually make a living
7) Most of the players in this league are full-time and dependant on their wages.

Useful for the goalscorer at that end too, I don't always see from the CSH side.

Yep that's the one, exactly right. It was nice to see the elders standing up for the younger fans.

I seem to remember one of our younger fans being headbutted by a Scarborough fine while switching ends during half time, around the halfway line on the popular side. He was only around 13-15 years old.
