Alty's team for the cscsf (2nd leg) v Macc, 90-91: Wealands, Miller, Wiggins, Rolo, Rooney Reid, Shaw, Daws, Brady, Hughes, Showler. Those were the days! Only two changes in the next weeks match against Barnet - no wonder we flagged! Although Barnet spending the best part of a hundred grand on reinforcements for the run in probably didn't help. The signing of Carter from Runcorn for 40,000 pounds (I think) seems to stick in the memory for some reason.
Speaking for myself, I've always rather liked the Cheshire cup - plenty of local derbies, the tradition (one of the oldest footy comps in the world) and I still say a final against Macc would be a good occasion, certainly if we won.
We also played Macc twice in the cup that season - presumably the time when Kingy didn't know if there would be a penalty in the replay!
