Yesterday was nothing short of an embarrasment.

We gifted them 3 of the softest goals, the 3rd in particular was a disgrace, no attempt by Joseph to stop the cross and not much effort when the ball got into the box there wasn't much effort to do anything about it.

Robbie Williams and its a real shame  because i think he's one of the few that cares was having to be marshalled around in the 2nd half and told where to stand by 18 year old Carl Piergianni, i really fear whether he'll have the football brain to even cope with BSN.

Everytime Newport won the ball in midfield, it seemed like they had acres of space, they could pick a pass off at ease, not a hint of pressure.

I can understand simply not being good enough, but i will never be able to accept an Altrincham side that shows the lack of effort like from some yesterday in such an important game, of course this has been one of our biggest downfalls all season at times. Its all well and good some of them having the heads in hands at the end, but the should have been giving each other some home truths a long long time ago.

In the end i was expecting to want to give the team both barrels as they left the pitch. They really musn't understand nor care how much it does costs to watch Alty all over the country, to endure such performances as yesterday, FGR, Histon, Blyth to name but a few (and why would they as they pick up their pay packets? Afterall its just a job). But when it came to it, like much of the team itself, i simply couldn't be bothered!

Me and jamie are training it.

Day return to Bath is £66.30.

The 8.07 train from piccadilly gets you to bath around 11.35 (change at Bristol) Think those trains are hourly.

Matt Dickens was bloody awful in goal that night, not that the rest were any good though.

Sad news though.

The photographs in no.8 are from different seasons - the top picture would have been taken just after we changed our home kit about 2 months into the season - we originally had that kit with really thin stripes but i seem to think there was some sort of row with the kit suppliers but could be wrong.

The 2nd photograph is from the start of the 95/96 season where if memory serves me right we held some form of raffle to determine who our sponsors would be and Holts came out of the hat.

Seem to remember losing 4-0 away at bromsgrove in the above kit - bad times!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: What's your favourite Alty goal??
« on: July 25, 2009, 12:59:18 PM »
Much like Ecky i tend to lean towards the importance of a goal rather than the goal itself.

2 that spring to mind straight away are Ricky Harris at Gateshead in 1999

Andy Lovelock against Emley to seal the Unibond Championship is also a favourite.

Alty 7 Emley 1 (i think they scored) at the end of the 97/98 season. Comley Excel scored a hat trick and Stuart Coburn made his altrincham debut - in midfield.

After that i think it is beating Cheadle Town 6-0 away in CSC game circa 95/96 where the dreadful Paul Williams still couldnt score.

from my setanta contract...

8. Ending the Contract

You may end this contract at any time by giving us one months notice if we reduce or vary significantly the total amount of programmes available on the channels within, or at the level of service of your chosen option

Think that is fairly damning for them...

The 1st leg was a carbon copy of United's performance in barca last year, the 2nd leg the same apart from Iniesta's goal (1st barca shot on target?) at the end.

Drogba should have finished it in the 2nd half for chelsea and they possibly should have had a penalty.

Were i a United fan id be delighted at getting Barca. They know how to stifle them out of games. The final will be dull.

Interstingly enough, i know a Stockport County fan at work who has been attending a number of crisis meetings held over the past few months as they are in big trouble financially.

One aspect of their troubles is that they need to find nearly half a million by the end of the season to buy the ground back from Sale Sharks or they face having to pay big rent to Sale next year which they cant afford. Their board have apparently stated that they are thinking of approaching us with a view to a ground share next season. Doubt this would ever come off but it would be a bit odd.

terrible situation but i do enjoy how we still manage to still have a worse goal difference than them.

In reality if this carries on they shouldnt be allowed to carry on playing games as it will end up having serious impact on the relegation/playoff places if it continues.

Maybe im wrong but were we not comfortably mid table until beating southport 3-1 (danny mcgoona's debut) at haig avenue around december time or am i thinking the wrong season?

did we not win another game until beating kettering either 3-2 or 4-3 late on in april with sammy ayorinde playing?

rushsen away on the last day was horrible, worse than barry hayles' winner on the penultimate against stevenage which doomed us.

Gus Wareing... discuss?

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Vics to play at Alty on Saturday
« on: January 15, 2009, 11:00:00 PM »
I dont have any problem with vics playing here on saturday, just as long as we're getting the money up front, im not totally convinced we'll be seeing it otherwise.

I cant make it to oxford on saturday with working overtime in the morning (a rare thing in the civil service) so might have gone if only for something to do if we were getting the gate receipts, dont want to be giving them any money though so wont bother.
