Title: Telford chalked off
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on March 18, 2015, 09:54:17 AM
Welling can get 55 Points

A Woking
H Eastleigh
H Kidderminster
H Wrexham
A Alfreton
H Southport

I think this current bottom 4 will go, though there are rumours surfacing of potential AGM cup entrants

We really need to win two games, possibly three. Should be another healthy crowd on Saturday as halifax have an outside chance of a playoff place, let's hope a few more are back off the treatment table and that we revert to one upfront. that win at welling could be the most important of the season given are usually performances against bottom sides. Got to look at winning at least two of our three home ganes and getting something at dartford and torquay but I think torquay may sack Hargreaves before we visit.

H Halifax
A Dartford
H Southport
A Gateshead
A Torquay
H Telford
A Braintree

This thread is so negative

You were talking about 5th place last week?

It's not negative at all, it's putting to bed people's fears and highlighting the fixtures of those below us. A lot has changed in a week in terms of injuries, I think we will probably finish 14th to be honest.

We won't get to 14th I'm afraid. But I'll settle for 17th with a smile on my face.

I also think we will finish 14th and will finish the season ok. Braintree smashing Torquay 5-1 a shock, can see us winning at Torquay but losing last game v Braintree. Think we will pick up a draw v Halifax in another goal fest as usual v them, 2-2 or 3-3. Still think one team in the run in is due a smashing and that could be Southport.

A win over dartford on Saturday will see us mathematically uncatchable by them

I actually endured Braintree v Telford for the full 96 minutes last night. If Altrincham had put in a performance as detached and inept as Braintree's we'd be calling for the manager's head on a plate. I wonder if Telford's Gray is out of contract at the end of the season. He appears to know how to take a penalty.

Not negative at all. If anything I would say realistic as it could actually happen

I applaud you.

I switched off after Telford's second goal. It was a dreadful game and, as you said, Braintree were shocking.

It was a pile of poo as a game. Telford seemed happy just to play footy, Braintree were awful but will be staying up so maybe they don't care either. Another weird game for BT to show.

I know Kidderminster have 52 points, but I believe they are a lub who will finish belw us.  No win in 10. And only 4 points from those games.

Not paying the players does not seem a massive motivator of performance

To be fair to both Braintree and Telford the match was just as good as us v welling

We lose all our games and either Nuneaton or Welling win all their games (and in Nuneaton's case overturn goal difference) - Still mathematically possible to be relegated - but realistically the chances of this happening is nil

Don't forget - Aldershot and Alfreton both need to win 3 out of 6 and 3 out of 5 games respectively too...

Miracles needed, and they won't be forthcoming so yeah that's them down.  With Dartford all but down too it's choose one from Southport, Alfreton and Welling.

SAT 25 APR 2015 - FOOTBALL CONFERENCE    Welling v Southport  17:15 could be a brown pants game.

Southport could struggle to get another point out of that lot.

Can't see them getting anything V Rovers or Grimsby. Their 9 point lead over the two in the relegation zone will probably save them, coupled with the Welling V Alfreton game.

At home to Wrexham on Tuesday.

Win that and they go clear of Alfreton on a much superior GD, before the Alfreton away game.

Lose to Wrexham and they will need to win at Alfreton, as opposed to maybe taking a draw there and going into  the last day at home V Southport while Alfreton are away at Bristol  Rovers. Far more interesting than anything going on in the Prem league.

4 points seperate the bottom 5 clubs in the premier leauge so the last statement is probably incorrect

Welling 2 up so far. Eastleigh wining too, just pushing Macc out of the playoff spots.

Barrow are two  one up V North Ferriby - big night at Holker Street.

Barrow won three one.  Very close at the top of the Conf North.

If welling beat alfreton Saturday they are all but safe as they have a better goal diffrence than alfreton And that result would also probably keep southport up

From a selfish perspective, Welling to stay up please. Very near-by (for me) and the micro pub, good day out for London Alty.

Southport too, they bring a few and there's a bit of local spice with that too.

Alfreton is like stepping back in time 30 years. If I had to pick 1/3 to go down it would be them by a very long distance.

a draw will do Welling, Alfreton finish at Bristol

Looking up, at the bottom of L2, tonight's results mean that Trannie Rovers will be odds on to go down now. I'd say they'd need at least 7/9 to stay up. Given their last 2 are Plymouth away (currently holding onto the last play off spot) and Bury at home (still in with a shout of automatic) then they need snookers.  Some huge local pay days for us in that away end next season. I also doubt we've played a league game in the recent past at a ground with a larger capacity than TRFC (about 17k I think). Police bill will be big for them too it must be said.

I'm not sure they're that doomed. They're only 2 pts behind Hartlepool with a much better goal difference. I'd be interested to see if they went down if they played on Friday nights again. Would be a huge advantage against some teams in this league.

Southport would kick themselves if they missed out on a match v Tranmere. I don't think they will though as it would require Alfreton to take 4 pts ie draw at Bristol Rovers.

I think playing on a Friday night versus part time sides should be banned. I know it is the same as a Tuesday, it is just the way I feel!

BT or whatever the TV arrangements are for next season could be interested in Tranny playing on Friday nights, should they be relegated.

Alfreton would need to beat Welling and get at least a point at Bristol for Southport to go down

Alfreton f**ked unless they beat Welling, may well go down even if they do. Can see all three ending up on 47 points, defo advantage Southport and Welling
